Although it is a love letter to Star Trek fandom at its core, it's also its own self-contained thing and you're not expected to know anything about the Star Trek franchise in order to enjoy it.

Actually watched this for the first time over the weekend (it's on Paramount+ lol) and I loved it. What a cute little movie. Nice to see it's getting a UHD.

It's one of the titles that is now fully Paramount's, after they bought DreamWorks* back in the day.

*Which was later relaunched independently, but Par kept the full rights to the previous catalogue and the IP up until then. DreamWorks Animation, on the other side, continued to operate separately.

It's actually surprising that Paramount didn't just re-purpose the same Steelbook they put out for the Blu-ray, like they've done with Wayne's World, Planes, Trains, and Automobiles and others.
