I would have thought that any major Bollywood film made after 2000 would be in surround audio. It definitely raises questions about the source materials used to prepare these blu-rays.

Thanks for the Disc information. I have ordered the set last week and waiting for delivery to US.
I was hoping for telugu audio for Shiva, got excited to see it in Disc info for a moment.
Since Shiva is remade in Hindi not a dub, I am okay with Hindi version. They should have atleast rematered the audo tracks for all these to 5.1

They should have remastered all of these movies with 5.1 audio especially when their DVDs already have 5.1 tracks. Satya’s DVD was remastered by DEI for Eros and has an excellent 5.1 track. I was thinking of remuxing this 5.1 track with Satya’s Blu-ray. But saw an issue. While the DVD is 175 minutes, the BR is only 166. They might have deleted some scenes. Now I’ll just remux the songs only.

You'll have to account for the 4% PAL speed-up on these Blu-Rays when remuxing, and that is assuming no discrepancies between the footage on the DVD and BD.

I’m aware of that. First, I thought that was the reason for discrepancy in running times. When I checked the other BRs, they are almost of the same length as their DVDs. Shiva (BD 162/DVD 162), Company (148/149) & Sarkar (119/123). Actually, Sarkar has a significant difference of 4 minutes also.
Remuxing short length videos is not hard. The software I use has a feature “Stretching a chapter”. You stretch the shorter video to match the longer one. Then extract the audio from one to remux it with the other one.

Just finished remuxing Satya’s song “Kudi Sapne Mein Milti Hai”. DVD run was 304 secs and Blu-ray’s 292. Since Blu-rays are not encoded in NTSC, Pal etc, the difference must be due to fps rates. Will do one more song for now and that’s it. It’s still time consuming.

Why can't we get properly remastered BRs? Even the international companies can't make good Blu-rays for Bollywood movies. This one is missing 5.1 audio, and Kill had burnt-in subtitles and so on.

I’ve just remuxed the whole movie with the 5.1 Dolby audio from the dei dvd and trust me the audio has a day and night difference. It did take a while to sync it frame by frame as it went out of sync with every other scene but it was worth it. The Bluray audio is really bad, dvd audio actually made the movie enjoyable while the Bluray audio was just flat, no dynamic range.

Also while the video quality is good it seems like they added fake grain and it’s not natural layer of film grain. Let me know if anyone else also feels the same.

Otherwise this is the best we are ever going to get.

Do Sarkar and Company really only have mono tracks on this release? Those should have 5.1 audio!

Unfortunately yes all the movies have a stereo sound. Actually Satya should’ve had a 5.1 as well, as it was mastered in 5.1. Looks like they took just took the masters made for tv broadcast and put it on bluray. That also explains why they are in 25fps and not in 24fps.

I had watched "Company" in the cinema, and it was 5.1 Dolby Digital.
