The old Blu ray is terrible so this is a must. Looks like Universal doesn’t release stuff themselves anymore though.

Universal was pumping out affordable catalogue titles with great masters for a while there it’s too bad. Kino at least you get nice artwork, extras and the price is in line but good encoding and original audio seems to be too complicated for them

Kino are killing it with Universal's back catalog of disaster movies! In less than a week, we got 4K UHD announcements for AIRPORT, AIRPORT 1975, AIRPORT '77, THE CONCORDE: AIRPORT '79, DAYLIGHT and DANTE'S PEAK.

Hope EARTHQUAKE, THE HINDENBURG and ROLLERCOASTER aren't far behind!

Shame it’s from Kino. Chances are the encode will have compression errors and digital artifacts. If by some small miracle it doesn’t then i’ll pull the trigger.

A UHD with mediocre encode is better than the existing bluray. Or am I missing something?

You say it like if Kino releases something then that’s the last disc release the film will ever get. Going by history with Kino it’s just better to wait for a different release from a different label or studio, since chances are it will be better than whatever compression job Kino does.
