Default Starting a BD collection question

hey there i don't have a Blu Ray player yet but planning on buying a PS3 when im able to get one and would like to start a Blu Ray collection even though i do not have an HD setup currently. Some impressve collections so far however im a little woried im not so eager to start shelling out lots of money on these newly released first wave of movies. i have a lot of DVD's and im not sure weather or not i plan on replacing my entire collection just yet. i don't know if it's just because these are the first Blu Ray movies to be released but what is up with the lack of bonus material and extras? i mean what gives? the storage on these discs are monsterious, are they just testing the water to see what kind of market there is? i've already double dipped plenty on DVD's i really don't want to repeat that over with Blu Ray not only replacing the DVD's with Blu Ray but replacing the Blu Ray movies with a better version of Blu Ray movie. HD is very impressive and picture quality and audio are the most important part in the presentation of the movie however i don't have an HD setup so i don't know if it will even make any difference right now. Has anyone used Blu Ray on a standard tv or setup?

HD is on the go. 1080p is the big change. However, on a standard TVsetup the BD picture quality may not be very convincing when compared to DVD quality as DVD almost drives the display to the max.

And about the bonus materials... To be honest, I don't really care. They are nice for one time, but do you really look at all of them? Every time again? ... In fact, imho, I don't really care anymore. The movie is what I want, the extra is nice, but almost useless imo.

i agree the bonus material is secondary for me. The movie is ultimatly what matters but what's stopping them from adding bonus material with the Blu Ray movie? do they hope to cash in on it later like with DVD's? they have all that space might as well utilize it, at least include what the DVD's already have. Take Terminator 2 for example a movie that has been out on DVD for a while and has been released at least 3 times! which sort of annoy's me when they do that. The EXTREME DVD has tons of extras includng deleted scenes and other stuff. The Blu Ray version hardly has anything extra. DVD's started out the same way pretty straight up releases not much in terms of bonus material or extras. i just can't see the reasoning for exlcuding extras on a movie that launchs right alongside the DVD and Blu Ray not having the same features as DVD. It still very early and HD is not standard yet i realize this and will prob take a good 2 years before Blu Ray really starts to establish itself and prices come down and more people upgrade to HD.

We're not even 6 months into BD yet. Try to remember back to the days of the first 5 months of DVD introduction. (And there wasn't even a fuddy duddy war going on I might add)
I have a friend that complains a lot that even today companies sometimes don't include something as basic as a trailer of the movie in the DVD. Or original MONO mix. (I complain too but I complain about a lot of things )
