As it completes both the Davison and C Baker runs, and is the last chronological unreleased series, I would imagine it would be one of the last.

bit ballsy to take on and issue this season given Jon's final season only needs Dinosaurs 1 to probably be improved on.
i'd had thought they left this season and Bill & Pats back for the opportunity to have newer sources on hand for this and such releases.

Spearhead - maybe some more tweaks even though it's had a standalone release which looked got at the time of release.

Silurians - the off-airs are OK barring its missing the cliffhangers & reprises and the minor color losses in it shouldn't need much more to improve the DVD release.

Inferno - probably some tweaking to the restoration but the box should contain the RSC and 2nd release which i can't remember if it combined the film & previous conversion to improve the picture. i seem to recall the first DVD release was film & RSC to repair episode 6s massive off-lock only.

Ambassadors Of Death - now that needs an overhaul and a half. the VHS included on the very best sections of the off-air but note only complete scenes and not 'clears up halfway during the scene' which was done as a consumer decision to avoid the chop and changing between color & b&w being a viewing hinderance. Anybody who's seen a copy of the complete off-air will know how much more clean picture there was although hampered by huge spews of rainbow interference (ep's 3 & 4) to bordering on more than acceptable interference, or in Episodes 6 & 7 very brief lapses of the signal breaking up. i know and if you weren't too fussy the whole taping has been known to actually be an acceptable viewing experience.
The DVD i thought in some places the Chroma Dot Recovery suffered from been very dark and if you compare Episode 3's opening (against the brief inclusion on the VHS) i'd almost describe as brownish but was obviously only dependent on the film sources scanned.

it should be an interesting box set given this would be the more challenging as far as improvements to the previous restorations and any new extra's within it.

Dunno, I can definitely see it coming long before some of the Hartnell and Troughtons.

Solid rumours are that S21 will most likely be released in 2025 after S7.

It would complete the whole 1980s.

It doesn't look like that's been a huge consideration given they've had no issue completing McCoy already.

Given we've only 1 B&W season it looks like those are being kept until last presumably to give them more options for covering the missing episodes.

13 is rumoured too, alongside 6. So I'm sure all 3 of these seasons will appear sooner rather than later. We're so close to completing the 70s and 80s, rumour can't get it far wrong.

Unfortunately S6 will probably be a little while yet as they’ll want to give The War Games in colour time to sell on its own, plus they’ll want to animate Space Pirates. But fingers crossed we won't have to wait *too* long - would love another 60s box set very soon.

With some luck, they'll include the colourisation with the eventual boxset.

I'd be all over S13 like a rash, not least because it includes my all-time favourite story, Pyramids of Mars. The only question I have is if there's some issue with the Robert Banks Stewart estate, as his two stories (Terror of the Zygons and The Seeds of Doom) have been taken off BBC Iplayer.

There isn't just as there aren't any problems for An Unearthly Child on BD.

These are the different rights (digital distribution) as opposed to home video release rights.

This has apparently got a new Chroma Dot Colour Recovery.

Possibly this is why it has two discs on the set. One disc will be based on the domestic off-air colour restoration while the other disc will be the colour recovery version.

My secret wish had actually been they’d include a UHD HDR disc of Spearhead - ah well, was never likely just something I thought could be a fun bonus for the one story such a thing would ostensibly be beneficial.

I figured either this (Season 7) or Season 13 would be the next release. Very much looking forward to it, as Season 7 is one of my favourites.

For the remaining colour seasons, this would be my guess as to the release order:

- Season 7 (pending announcement)
- Season 13 (due to Sutekh)
- Season 21
- Season 11
- Season 16

As for the 60s boxsets, my best guess is that they will follow this order:

- Season 2 (already released)
- Season 6 (despite The Space Pirates not being animated yet, I recall commentary from the team responsible for The Collection boxsets that they weren't dependent on the animations, especially if there wasn't much left - e.g. Season 2 being released without animating the missing episodes of The Crusade)
- Season 1 (currently lacking only Marco Polo)
- Season 5 (currently lacking only The Wheel in Space)
- Season 4 (currently lacking both The Smugglers and The Highlanders)
- Season 3 (with the announcement of The Savages, that still leaves The Myth Makers, The Massacre and The Daleks' Masterplan)

Although 1 & 5 may swap around if they decide to do a Troughton animation next (and the fact that the BBC doesn't want anything to do with the 3D fan animation of The Wheel in Space just might indicate they're working on that behind the scenes).

Inferno remains my favourite Dr Who story - Season 7 is an excellent season. It's just a shame that (Spearhead aside) the BBC utterly trashed the source materials. There are horrendous problems with what's left to work with - off air home video of PAL>NTSC converted broadcasts and b&w film recordings with out'-of-phase film inserts in them, argh!
... but the bluray can only look (slightly) better than the DVDs. Bring it on!

Inferno is one of my favourite stories too. The season also contains some of my favourite Classic Who cliffhangers (The Ambassadors of Death Episode 2 and Inferno Episode 4).

Given what they had to work with for this season, even the DVDs were an impressive result. The blurays will definitely look better just due to the higher bitrate, better encoding and improvements to noise reduction algorithms (which, if the other 70s boxsets are anything to go by, the team involved has worked out the appropriate DNR to significantly reduce the analog picture noise whilst preserving details).

The Silurians episode 6
Well the "Doctor Who Jon Pertwee" credit accidentally on screen (as first broadcast & left in on the DVD to reflect as originaly transmiitted) left unfaded for the first few minutes to the equivalent of a watermark that should really stand out!

Is it true they're using AI to upscale now? Saw this on Twitter, but it seems more speculative than fact. https://twitter.com/ThePrydonian/sta...30227537744200

I doubt it. That particular screenshot looks like the DNR and sharpening were slightly too high (DNR has removed some of the skin texture and the sharpening has made the edges of his shirt harsh). I can't see any obvious signs of AI.
