Speaking of which, I need tips/advice....

Is it possible to overlay/overlap the chrome and put black paint on it?

How would this be done and what steps/materials are needed?

I want the 60 GB version yet I also want to get rid of the chrome in the optical drive area and put/spray black paint on it (so that it will be all-black).

Layman's terms: 60GB version features yet retains the all-black looks of the 20GB version (or better).

Any help/tips/advice is appreciated.

Ahh, you glue them on. I thought you removed panels and then put their panels on. If that was the case, I would come up one with perforated holes through out and claim it runs your system cooler.

You could grab a roll of 2" wide electrical tape and do some surgeon-like trimming with an exacto knife. Cheap and completely reversible...
