Default Why does my TV go to black when watching blu-rays?

I have a new LG G4 77” and a new Panasonic ub820. When watching blu rays the screen will randomly go black for a couple of seconds. I first noticed this with HDR content so I thought it was the cable. Bought an HDMI 2.1 cable and changed cable from my blu ray player to receiver. I then watched a non 4k blu ray and it once again went to black for a couple seconds randomly into the movie. What could be causing this?

My set-up does this from time to time. I've swapped cables, BR player's/films, TV's. No change. It may be the routing/cable designation.

For now I'll just leave it until I pull everything apart and try different connection options...I just don't want to mess with it right now.

My 820 did this as well as my 9000.. I even exchanged both players and the new players did it as well. Sometimes I think it’s the disc and I will rewind it back to the parts that went black and it wouldn’t do it a second time. So I have no clue and exhausted my options at this point and just deal with it

Sounds like the video is losing sync for a brief moment periodically. Is audio being lost during this time as well? Are there home theater receivers involved in these scenarios? If so, what's the behavior of the home theater receiver when this happens? Well, in cases where the video is passing through the receiver rather than running directly from the Blu-ray player to the display.

Audio is not being lost during this time. I am going to try running hdmi directly into display from player.

I used to have drops to a black screen and resolved it with a fibre optic HDMI cable. (no receiver in between)

I would assume it's a cable bandwidth issue.

LG TVs have a HDMI diagnostic function and a HDMI status page. Not sure it will be of any help.

Nothing seems to be working. Diagnostic shows everything is right. It is frustrating to have saved and spent top dollar to only have an issue like this.

Are both still under manufacturer's warranty and did you buy them from the same place?

Have you tried bypassing the receiver altogether just to see if that makes any difference? Try connecting the blu-ray player directly to the TV and see what happens. Try each HDMI input on the TV to see if that makes any difference. HDMI inputs and HDMI boards sometimes fail.

The HDMI cable that runs between the TV and the receiver might warrant checking, too.

Also, how long are your HDMI cables? Passive HDMI cable lengths exceeding 10' can be problematic for 4K content.

Still can’t figure out why video goes black

Set up- LG G4, panasonic UB820, PS5, Nvidia Shield

While watching blu rays on the 820 (both blu ray and 4k) the picture goes black for a few seconds. The audio still plays. This happens at completely random times. Anywhere from 15 min to over an hour into a movie. I have changed HDMI 2.1 cables MULTIPLE times. I have made sure the hdmi is in the correct ports. I have shut off CEC on player. I have tried different outlets. I have returned the player and ordered a new one. Still happened. I then tried the ps5. IT HAPPENS AGAIN WHILE WATCHING A BLU RAY. I just do not understand. I don’t believe this has happened using the Nvidia Shield. I am now going to use it more to see if it happens there as well.

I am all out of options. I don’t know how to solve this problem or who to ask for help. I am extremely frustrated as I have waited and saved a long time to have this set up only to have this issue. I would be so grateful if someone could help me with this or point me in the right direction towards someone who could.

my Hisense TV does it sort of because the brightness goes up and down on mine when i watch a film on blu-ray but it doesn't when i'm just watching TV i've got two difirent HDMI cables and it does it on both of them but it says on google that it could be because of the power saving mode is on.
