Best artwork for the movie imo. Hope they can get some of the Criterion extras, at least the two commentaries.
The listing doesn't mention any special features beyond the Mediabook. Hopefully they're still TBA and this isn't just barebones. |

They could've at the very least gone with HDR10+, which is what iTunes has. As for audio, I'm not sure how "legit" that 7.1 mix is. |

Pretty much. I said this in the other thread already but the Criterion edition is approved by Sean Baker, so if the movie actually had a 7.1 mix it makes no sense for them to go with the 5.1 for the disc release.

That would be a better cover than the Criterion if not for all the busy logos smacked on top of it. Are these typically removable?

Tempted to double dip for the artwork + mediabook alone, though I am curious: how do Criterion and Capelight encoding usually compare? I know they're both hit or miss.
Also, does the Capelight straight up lack subtitles? Edit: Emailed Capelight and subtitles will be included, just not posted on the site yet. Last edited by MovieBuff647; 01-29-2025 at 04:16 PM. |

I think my big concern is that though the soundtrack is 'English' it will be the original which is actually a mix of English/Russian/Armenian (as stated)... however, this being a German release it'll probably have no English 'burn in subs' for the Russian and Armenian sections.

And knowing Capelight (and Universal), I'd assume it's for all the English dialogue (or HOH) and not merely the non-English bits. |

I wonder if that's more specials than the US release will have, hmm.

Most of the extras on the Criterion edition will likely be exclusive to their release. I'm sure Capelight can put together a solid selection of interviews and featurettes, but they won't be able to top the on-set making of documentary, commentaries, deleted scenes and audition footage.

We don’t yet know what extras they’ll come up with but them getting exclusive stuff from Criterion doesn’t seem likely. They don’t usually license their extras even years after the release of their edition. As Hedrox said, a couple of EPKs is more realistic and maybe if they’re lucky a new Sean Baker interview to round it up.
