dude Clooney has got NO shot at the Oscar. did you see There Will Be Blood? Daniel Day Lewis could win the Oscar without ever saying a word. He could win it on facial expressions alone. That being said, Clooney was VERY good, and the movie was VERY good. Just not better than TWBB.

Daniel Day Lewis should win it just for the "I drink your milk shake" line. I just watched Michael Clayton and thought it was great. Any other year, Clooney would win for this.

How does the Michael Clayton disc look, picture quality wise? Since everyone hated the Jesse James picture quality, I was worried Michael Clayton might be the same.

Wilkinson has a better shot in supporting actor than Clooney does.

I don't know what is wrong with me. I usually love "Osacar" type movies.

But both times i tried watching Michael Clayton, I fell asleep....

It looks much better than Assassination of Jesse James. This movie actually represents the grain correctly, instead of making the backgrounds like a still picture due to compression. I think it's because the bitrate stays higher than 8 for most of the movie But seriously it does hit like 48ish which makes me think that this is not an HD DVD port (which is a first from WB aside from their earlier movies being mpeg2).

There Will Be Blood = dumb movie. It was boring from start to finish, but you know what, Daniel Day Lewis was phenomenal.

That's my opinion. I didn't get to pay attention to the whole movie because my wife was feeling kind of sick, so I'm sure I missed some important parts, but I'd like to watch it again. About Oscar hype - it's hit or miss with me usually, sometimes great, sometimes not so great (as with any movie, really)

Michael Clayton looked great. It had a very slick visual look to it. Not a Casino Roayle style PQ but still good. I agree. George was great. You know you have an actor if the entire end credits scene is just him looking out a window of a cab. On TWBB.... I'm reading the book that the movie is based on. It's amazing.

I'm sorry but I think you missed the point of the entire movie. You said you thought it was boring but it isn't supposed to be fun or exciting, there are plenty of other movies out there for that. It is a film about a man's life and his strive for power and what it ultimately does to him. Day-Lewis gives one of the best performances ever as he is so believable as this man. The story makes you want to hate him, but yet you can't take your eyes off of him. You really should watch it again and try to see it for what it is. But that is just my opinion, do with it what you want.

I agree with you that it looked good. Also considering that the movie is dialog driven, the lossy soundtrack is appropriate (I agree that lossless would surely improve it but it doesn't require it as much as other titles).

most important of all, the movie was great!

No, I understood the point very clearly; it's hard not to. However, it was a looooong and pretty boring movie to sit through. I appreciate Lewis' acting, as I stated before, and I understood it all and it left me thinking, but it was boring nonetheless. Remember, movies are a form of entertainment and to be honest, I wasn't that entertained. And for your information, I am a fan of drama - fun, exciting movies; eh, they're okay. Just because it's an Oscar nominee doesn't mean everyone is going to like it!

I was wondering about this movie. I like most of Clooney's stuff. From Dusk Til Dawn being my favorite and Batman and Robing my least favorite.
