Question Opinions - HD65, HD70, MIT HC1500, Acer PH530

Looking for opinions on the 4 mentioned projectors... I am upgrading to a 720 projector from my current Epson Home 10.... granted these probably are not quality projectors expecially for using with blu ray...(I am more for the sound with my decision to go Blu).... So if anyone has first hand experience with any of these and has either GOOD or BAD comments about any of them please post.... When things seem so similar I need some sort of push... as to what direction to go. Thanks!

check projectorcentral for some reviews. I've read good things about the HD70. Have you narrowed it to just these 4?

I'm torn as I see the HD70 is on sale at CC and other online places with a 200.00 mail in rebate which makes it very hard to pass on.. but when I read any cons for this projector i start thinking... So the options are HD70 for about 650-700 or the HC1500 for 850-900... that price difference should make it easy as all I am really looking for is a quality 720p rez.. and since my HT is in an fully light controlled room the brightness or lumens aren't as big of a deal.
Just looking for opinions on why someone would sway one way or another.. but the prices are very tempting...
thanks

darn it, this is the reason why i hate wireless mice.

anyways,

i own the HD70 and love it. it was the first 720p pj that was able to drop down to the 1k market without skimming on features.

id review this list for reference, as projector review is a great resource for anything projector related.

http://www.projectorreviews.com/best.../under1000.php

here is a link towards projector centrals list, where you can get info from first hand users...

http://www.projectorcentral.com/home...projectors.htm

the mitsu hd1000u, is the archnemesis of the hd70. i had a chance to test both, but preferred my hd70. you have to remember that the hd70 is a tweakers projector. it takes a lot of work to get it to perform to its full potential.

the mitsu hc1500 is its older brother. thus my choice if given todays needs. here is the quick review for the lazy...

I tried Epson 1705c, BenQ MP730 and Mitsubishi HC1500. The difference is huge. I unhesitatingly vote for HC1500.

I too vote for the HC1500. I just have my HT setup with HC1500, 100 inch screen, Panasonic BD30K, and Onkyo 605. While I don't have a chance to test on other projectors, I've found that the HC1500 provides amazing picture. My room has limited distance (about 14 feet), and the movies shown by the HC1500 were just wonderful on the 100 inch screen. Now, if you have a little more distance, say 16 feet or more, the image would be tack sharp. But even with my less-than-ideal physical limitation of my room, my wife said the image is sharper than in the theater! The only thing that would be better than the HC1500 (at least for my setup) is to step up to the 1080P which I will do later once the 1080P prices drop down to $1,000. But for now the HC1500 is giving me the PQ that I have hoped for.

HTH,

thanks for the input... but i sold the epson 10 and found out of the 4 best buys in driveable distance that only 1 had an HD70 left and as i have read it is true.. only $499.99... with BB RZ Certs i brought it down to 475.00... I hooked it up a couple days ago and have not wanted to leave my theater... I'm sure the 1500 is just if not more amazing but with the price... I am very happy with this choice... blu looks amazing on it...
thanks to all

Proud Daddy of a 1 yr old HD70! no complaints. just make sure whatever you get will fit with your current setup/arangements. Optoma also offers a good warranty, even better if you purchase from costco.

Question

Do you guys think the HC1500 will work with my short ceiling (77" inches aka 6' 5") ?

I will have my future 92" screen near the top of my drop ceiling. I can lower the projector by a foot if I have to. I can go back as far as 16ft.

BTW: Whats the best screen type for this projector? White, silver, grey? Light or dark? I have white walls/ceiling.

Thanks

I have the HC3000 and I use it with a gray screen. Your biggest hurdle will be the projector's throw distance and not the height at which is mounted. The question you should ask is whether or not your room is long enough to be able to project a 92" diagonal image. You'll probably need at least 10-12' in order to be able to do that.
