Default Samsung DLP service problem

I have a problem with my Samsung LED DLP (hlt5089s). There is an electronic buzzing noise that gets louder/quieter depending on what is playing on the screen. It even does it on a static picture when switching between picture modes (dynamic, standard, movie). The problem is the last tech that was out said he couldn't hear it and that it was normal. When he told Samsung this, they closed my ticket. This is definately not normal and an issue that needs to be fixed. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get Samsung to take care of this?

It is normal, you're hearing the variancies in power requirements between lighter and darker scenes

Bottom line, it shouldn't be happening. I can't say that this thought would cure your problem, but I use a PanaMax M-5100 Power Monitor. This unit would take the place of a power strip and has all of my components plugged into it. You may have a power supply issue from the wall. The PanaMax regulates and monitors all power from the wall to each component and feeds it what it needs to power you components. I noticed when I started using this unit with my set-up the sound was noticeably cleaner. It has a lifetime warranty that states that if for any reason you fry a component due to whether or other power issue related situations, they will replace your components. Pretty strong warranty.

Again, I can't say go spend $400.00 on this until just yet, but you may find after all is is said that you have a power supply issue. I would recommend this type of power monitoring unit to anyone with multiple component, high end systems.

My problem with it being normal, is that this is my second set of this model, and the first one did not do this. I don't expect the set to be prefectly quiet, but I also don't expect to hear a loud buzzing when switching from Standard to Movie mode.

That is a good suggestion, but I already have it going to a Monster Home Theatre Powercenter, not a strip. Do you still think the PanaMax would make a difference?

& now you know what it would be like to have an Xbox360 ( which you would not know/hear for long...RRoD ) Don't let Samsung give you the runaround.

mine has a slight buzzing noise. Only can be heard if the sound is off or you get up behind the TV. Both my original one and replacment one did this. IT gets louder on bright screens. some users have reported no buzzing sound and others have reported faint ones. Some have had the buzzing so load it could be heard in the next room. From what I knwo only those that have very loud buzzing have gotten their's replaced. theres alot of info on this over at the AVSforum for the hltxx89/87 owners thread. By the way the techs I had out tried blaming it on the color wheel (no colro wheel in LED DLP). Then both techs stated it was normal to buzz some .I didn't hear any buzz on the one in the store. I think they allow some minor buzzing but it all depends on the person's ears.

Here's the problem with that... I don't know. Unless you could take a PanaMax home to test drive it, I wouldn't suggest you buying one to see if that's the problem. I don't know the Monster unit you're describing, but I've been told that the PanaMax is a better PM than Monster. Ultimately, I don't have a litmus test to compare personally.

If you can get a PanaMax on a try-buy, you may find something out.

When you switch from Standard or Dynamic to Movie in the picture settings, does it get louder?
