Default Average Blu-Ray PQ score:

Since Highdefdigest implimented the 5 star rating system 37 Blu Ray titles have been rated. Of them the average score 37 divided by 149 stars = an average score of 4.02

so I just don't get where the "blu ray has pq issues" thing is comming from.

maybe later I'll do all of the Hometheatre spot reviews also, since they are on a similar 5 paw system.

or if anyone has the time and wants to, or compare the past 37 HDDVD titles reviewed etc.

From MS and HD-DVD hacks that insist on pretending that we're still living in June 2006.

Ironic that the people who say BD has PQ issues are people that don't even own a BD player!

Probably because in every BD movie review hidefdigest mentions issues? Even though the same movie in HD DVD gets prize for the same stuff

Some Complaints maybe valid. I saw a Blu Ray player set up in one store yesterday and the PQ didn't look good at all, infact a correctly set up DVD display looks much better. I'm here to help if are there any HD-DVD demo's that need to be set up. I'm certain I can get HD-DVD to look almost as good as VHS.
There is one good thing comming out of this. Web site / magazines etc that are showing a bias (either way) I won't trust any of their reviews. So when HD-DVD croaks it and they are reviewing the best Blu Ray player of the year, I will take no notice of their recomendations.

As I said in another thread I saw my first ever Blu-ray disc being played in my electronics store and it was about the same picture quality as a DVD.
It was a Jazz BD if that helps, possibly that title is well known for being a bad print, or it could have been the dodgy TV they had it on, although it was only a small display so even a DVD would have looked great on that size TV but the poor old Blu-Ray looked very shabby.
And I was practically running over there to see it when I heard they had one. Very disapointing.
It was a Samsung by the way.

#31 in order of review on their HD DVD list (Willy Wonka) doesn't have stars.

So, looking at the latest 30:

PQ:

Blu-ray: 118 = 3.93 average
HD DVD: 114 = 3.8 average

AQ:

Blu-ray: 112.5 = 3.75 average
HD DVD: 105.5 = 3.51 average

Oh my, my, my.

I got curious and did the last 30 reviews of each format for them too:

PQ:

Blu-ray: 116 = 3.87
HD DVD: 114 = 3.80

AQ:

Blu-ray: 127 = 4.23
HD DVD: 112.5 = 3.75

Clearly, Blu-ray has some catching up to don't.

I wonder if the "biased" rhetoric is now going to swing 180?

Gary

P.S. I have kept all the data, so keeping track will be trivial. I can even post the tables if members are curious.

I don't think that is a good idea, this forum has so far been shielded from HD-DVD fanboys, and I for one would not like them to join if they find that this was the source.

Well I would rather not risk half of their BD supporters either, a lot of them are trolls/FUDsters, nearly (I stress nearly) as bad as the HD-DVD lot. Don't even mention the HD-DVD guys, they are just so blinkered, and their total outnumbers our total unfortunately.

Oh, I hear you HD DVD fans:

"Clearly those sites have been bought. How about reviews from people who know what they are talking about, like hometheaterhifi.com?"

Good choice:

November reviews, 25 titles for each, out of 5:

PQ:

Blu-ray: 100 == 4.00 avg.
HD DVD: 92.5 == 3.70 avg.

AQ:

Blu-ray: 104.5 == 4.19 avg.
HD DVD: 90.5 == 3.62 avg.

This is getting downright embarassing.

I was wondering if anybody could do this for the exclusives only, Disney, Fox, Lionsgate, and Sony for BD and any Universal titles for HD-DVD, the problem with using dual format releases is that they generally cancel each other out.

I thought BD was inferior to HD-DVD. Was I misdirected?

I decided to tally all the titles rated so far by Peter Bracke on High Def Digest.
I'll keep the results in my sig.
You should see the amount of complaining going on in the "Why this consumer chose HD DVD" thread over at High Def Digest's forums.
I guess "Blu-ray is the truth" will be showing up in Murch's sig after next Christmas.

(Although I'll still have no idea what it means)

So mmm.. why is HD-DVD on top. BD has higher ratings and B comes before H alphabetically. You're clearly biased dobyhd! Do you live in Seattle?

great sig, btw
