I was browsing my own Switch collection on on Gameye recently and came up with a few games with values far greater than I expected. Some of them are games I bought early in the Switch lifecycle and are still sealed, as I probably got them on sale and never got around to playing.
Minecraft: Story Mode Complete Adventure (~$175, sealed) - By far the biggest shocker for me. I really liked Telltale games back on the PS3/PS4, so I picked this one up very early after the Switch was launched. Think it was only like $20-30. The only thing I can come up with was this game ended up having a very small print run/didn't sell well physically. I know Telltale had more or less collapsed as a company by 2017-18, after they unfortunately put out a number of very buggy/somewhat unfinished games that needed major patches, so people probably weren't buying their releases in large numbers by this release. I believe this release includes both the Season 1 and Season 2 Minecraft games, and they're apparently 100% on the cartridge. Minecraft was one of Telltale's better releases, so maybe people have come to appreciate this release more over time. Shantae and the Pirate's Curse (~$290, sealed) - Ok, so I knew this one was worth a lot for years now. It's actually come down in value quite a bit, once peaking at around $400. But even at nearly $300, I'm not entirely clear why this Shantae game is so valuable compared to the ~$50 the other Shantae games are worth. Outlast: Bundle of Terror (~$310, sealed) - These are OK survival horror games, but nothing special. Guess the value is mainly due to it being limited print and survival horror games in general tending to spike on value over time. Walking Dead: The Telltale Series - The Final Season (~$80, sealed) - Guess it's similar to Minecraft: Story Mode. Came out early on the Switch lifecycle, didn't sell well, has all the content on cartridge. Rocket League: Collector's Edition (~$79, sealed) - Think it was a PS3 game ported to Switch that wasn't all that popular on Switch at the time. Batman: The Telltale Series (~$72, sealed) - Similar to the other Telltale Switch releases, value has spiked. |

I have the 3DS Pirates Curse and that’s showing a normal price on GameEye currently.
My priciest according to them are the two PS1 Lunar games. $330 and $300. Then Gunvein on Switch $290. Devils Third Wii U $269. Xenoblade Chronicles 3 LE $236. Also have the NES Garbage Pail Kids release from iAm8bit(?). Arrived smashed. All they would do is send another flat box for me. They refused to replace the entire item. The box contents are fine, just a smashed box. Can’t combine the two without opening but complete that’s $185. |

If we're talking highest priced stuff in my entire gaming collection, I also have these consoles. Wii U Legend of Zelda Wind Waker Deluxe Console (New, never used) ~$1,300. Probably would go for even more, given the box is mint and basically flawless. Nintendo DSi XL Mario Red 25th Anniversary Edition (Sealed, mint condition) $1,000+ Playstation 2 Slim Console (Sealed, mint condition) ~$700 |

Also own multiple copies of Forgotton Anne Collector's Edition (LRG, sealed), lovely edition and very lovely game. and tons of other Collector's Editions. Also own 2 regular copies of that very rare Fox game released by Strictly Limited Games. Sadly I missed the Collector's Edition. I also own that special PS2 game, Rule of Rose. Got it for around a hundred bucks years ago. Brand new sealed copies showed up recently, which lowered the current high price. Still so stupid, I remember seeing it on sale for like 15 quid, and didn't grab it back then because the cover looked kinda lame. Also own a few very very rare Japanese PC-9801 games. A few of these have only showed up once over the span of 5+ years. Also Demon's Souls Collector's Edition (PS3-US, not sealed). Also both Ender Collector's Editions from Japan. Ender Mangolia released this year and the CE was sold out almost immediately. I even own 1 copy of the Amazon Japan exclusive edition, which contains some sort of painting, it's lovely, but was way too expensive. Plus Retro Game Challenge (DS-US, sealed). Sadly sealed, I wanted to play it, bought it used from Japan for cheapish, and it arrived brand new sealed. Good for the price, bad for me. And don't ask me about the video game soundtracks I own. Way too many, and tons are super rare. Last edited by jimidini; 04-16-2025 at 10:30 PM. |
