Easter isn't about death, but the conquering of it. As for eating ham, that's not so much a religious tradition as one of practicality and timing. Lamb was the original choice, but as the availability and popularity declined, ham was chosen instead.

1) it is not funeral that was Friday
2) local tradition I guess (I have never associated ham with Easter). But it is a good piece for a large gatherings that is cheap and does feel seasonally kind of right.

Went to Easter Sunday church service and then had lunch with some good friends. We had ham, potatoes, salad, peas with bacon, dinner rolls followed up with carrot cake and chocolate mint chip ice cream.

During Lent I don't eat meat on Fridays, which can be a challenge. I would eat either tuna subs and chips at Jersey Mike's Subs, a local restaurant that offers fish and shrimp with side salad, grilled cheese sandwich, cheese pizzas and Stouffers Mac & Cheese dinners.
