Did this have a bunch of CG or AI changes? I canceled my UHD order for Seven over them.

I can't think of a single movie that came even close to 2.5 hours and WB tried to cram on a BD66, including MOD titles. They usually switch to BD100 on just about everything that goes over two hours, the only recent titles longer than that which got a BD66 are Superman 2 and 3, as far as I know.

Fair enough, though all the dubs were lossy monos and only a commentary was included, as far as extras are concerned. Point being there was plenty of space for a healthy 53 mbps bitrate, the encode just wasn't up to par.

Film I can understand. But for a digitally-shot show like this (which had a layer of Lowry image processing in post to sharpen it, tamp down noise and remove other artefacts of the early Viper HD cameras) then a competent encode would be fine. The Social Network has an average video bitrate of ~32 Mb/s (!) on the Sony UHD and it looks fine, as it happens that's also another digital Fincher show with a Lowry tidying pass. They could get away with a total average of about 55 Mb/s for picture and sound for Zodiac's theatrical cut on a UHD66 and in the right hands that's more than enough for that specific content IMO. But as it's Warners then who knows whose hands it'll end up in

It's good to see Warner putting this out, but I'd be surprised if they bettered the Paramount. Of course, I would buy it again if they managed it—I love the film. EDIT: It's worth mentioning that with that 98 GB filesize, Paramount has a total bitrate of 82.80 Mbps and got the video bitrate to 59 Mbps. I did initially misread Geoff's post and thought he was talking about a 55 Mbps video bitrate for Warner's disc, which I suspect is impossible on a 66 GB disc, even without additional audio tracks. The extras will likely be the biggest downgrade from the Paramount set, seeing as the WB release has no BD, they'll port them to the 4K, and probably SD upscaled to save space. |

If Warner really are going to include extras on the 4K UHD disc, then it obviously has to be a 100 GB disc, but we really don't know what it will be until it arrives. Right now it's even listed with the director's cut running time, so the specifications are not finalized, yet. It seems to me that the easiest way to add value is for Warner to just include their Blu-ray in the release, but they've taken quite a dislike to that lately. |

Considering that this disc will be a Warner victim of having no DV, while the US disc from Paramount does have DV, I think it's obvious which one would be preferrable by most fans.
