United Kingdom Magnum P.I. Crossover

Excellent news, although there's no indication that the Magnum P.I crossover episode Ki'is Don't Lie will be included unless Fernsehjuwelen have made a deal with Plaion Pictures for that episode.

Sure, hoping they do like Plaion Pictures with their sets which only have German subtitles...

Well Fernasehjuwelen is not the best label around so... well....I guess just happy we are getting it?
Maybe someone will pick it up in the US and do it better.
And yes it's a German release but asking for subtitles in English is not such a big or unrealistic ask. After all when you buy big studio releases the subtitles are in multiple languages usually so don't make it sound like it's an absurd request to ask for more than just German subtitles.

Does anyone have some kind of experience with Fernasehjuwelen releases?

Their new 4K release of the Belmondo Film „L‘Homme de Rio“ looks great.

It will be the HD premiere worldwide.

It makes sense if it's the distribution arm of the big studio, but licencing agreements with boutique labels and smaller, domestic labels have restrictions.

Expecting English subtitles, even for an English-speaking movie, on a release in a non-English-speaking country by a small distributor is not the norm.

Those smaller distributors' markets are their own countries and the contract will have been drafted with that in mind.

I've got a lot of John Wayne Movies by Fersehjuwelen, some has got Quality, some just solid. the I've got Near Dark with great quality but also Operation Petticoat and one old Godzilla Movje with bad quality.
And a solid Louis de Funes Movie. So Fernsehjuwelen has everything from good to bad quality

Am airing on the side of caution with this release. I should be ecstatic about it, as a Blu-ray release of Simon & Simon has been on my wishlist. While the Magnum crossover episode isn't being included, it wouldn't be a deal-breaker for me. I would be interested to know if the original music is going to be intact or mostly intact in this release.

The show had a similar number of episodes to Magnum (Simon & Simon had (I think) two feature-length episodes). The Alive website page linked to in the DVD Movies thread states thirty discs, which to me seems below what it should be.

I assume they're at PAL speed (but that didn't bother me when I purchased them), but have got Fernsehjuwelen's DVD releases of Picket Fences and Paper Dolls, as well their Blu-ray set of The Virginian: Season 1 (not got round to watching them yet).

United Kingdom Simon & Simon: In Trouble Again

Hi. I contacted Fernsehjuwelen last night c/o their Facebook page to ask if the 1995 reunion TV movie Simon & Simon: In Trouble Again will be included in the box set. I'm awaiting a reply.

Hopefully you'll hear back from Fernsehjuwelen with an answer to your question about the reunion TV film. Am hoping that the label will do a DVD release of the surviving episodes of the related series Whiz Kids.

United Kingdom Number of discs reduced

According to the listing, there are now going to be 27 blu ray discs rather than the previously-stated 30 discs. I'm not sure how they are going to accomplish 156 episodes over 8 seasons on to 27 discs when the episodes are 1080p HD.
