FINAL FANTASY TACTICS - The Ivalice Chronicles includes two different versions of the game: enhanced and classic. The enhanced version adds fully voiced dialogue, an optimized and updated UI, graphical improvements, and a number of other quality of life features. The classic version unites the graphics and gameplay of the original game with the renowned War of the Lions translation and includes convenient features such as auto save.

More details and the latest updates may be found on the game's official webpage and socials.

coming to Switch, Switch 2, PS4 & 5, Xbox, and PC.

- A brand-new user interface - the game’s UI has been completely overhauled to make the game even more approachable and intuitive. It’s now quicker and easier to control your units, see turn order and more.

- Updated visuals - the game’s graphics have been reworked to look great on HD displays. The vibrant 3D battlegrounds and detailed pixel art have never looked so good!

- Voice acting - The story now features full voice acting in English and Japanese from a talented cast, including Joe Pitts (Ramza), Gregg Lowe (Delita), Hannah Melbourn (Agrias), Timothy Watson (Cidolfus), Harry McEntire (Mustadio), Ben Starr (Dycedarg), and cameos by Cody Christian (Cloud Strife from FINAL FANTASY VII remake series) and Briana White (Aerith Gainsborough from FINAL FANTASY VII remake series).

- Tactical View - this new feature makes it easier to get the lay of the land and plan your actions across the battlefield.

- Battle speed - Speed up battles to fly through them faster. It’s great if you want to blow through easy fights or quickly practice with different team compositions!

- New difficulty levels - Do you want to really test your tactics, or are you in it more for the story? New difficulty levels let you adjust the game to your playstyle!

- Choose between Enhanced version or Original - If you choose the original, then you get to play with the graphics and gameplay of the original 1997 version with the renowned War of the Lions translation.

Long as its done right and it looks like it is, I'll have this for sure. With Squeenix, I've seen some excellent revivals, but I've also seen some misfires.

They showed you can toggle the original look in high res if you’d like. It looked really good.

Strong cast.

And priced appropriately at $50.

Really excited for this! I was tempted to pick up the mobile version of Tactics while I was on a flight a few weeks ago. Decided against it hoping we would get a remaster soon.

The Switch 2 version (at least in Japan) is a code in a box release

But the Switch release has a free upgrade to Switch 2. That might be the way I go depending how the parity is with the PS5 version.

To be honest wasn't that impressed with this one. At this point I would prefer sequels to the FF Tactics series.

Maybe FF Tactics A2 will get an updated release as well, along with more of the Ivalice series.

I like that the original PSX version is included because that would have been nice to have with the Tactics Ogre Reborn release. Some of us just want to be able to play the classic game without firing up old consoles.

I am curious how the new version will play. I was hoping for some changes to the classes and abilities for the story characters, but I welcome the addition of difficulty levels. Hopefully the autosave feature is smart enough not to soft-lock people in Riovanes Castle...

Also, as someone who still consistently listens to the soundtrack, I wonder if the music is the same or if there are enhancements.

Which is good, but I'd also like some of the Final Fantasy 12 playable characters and the Dark and Onion Knights classes.

https://www.nintendolife.com/news/20...-lions-content

Quote:
While The Ivalice Chronicles enhances the original game with a host of improvements, which include updated UI, new difficulty options, all-new voice acting and conversations, and modern quality-of-life features like autosave, battle speed changes and so on, the PSP content won't be included in this rerelease.

Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions, which launched in 2007 on Sony's portable handheld, is probably the most beloved version. It added in a Shakespeare-styled script, additional cutscenes, extra job classes in Dark Knight and Onion Knight, and a multiplayer mode. All of this has been dropped for 2025's version.

This game piqued my interest on reveal, as i don't usually go for them with graphics and gameplay on FF games in this classic style but looked interesting. The fact they literally use the voice acting of the one they say is best and then dump all the rest of the stuff that made the PSP version standout boggles my mind. Is it some kind of licencing issue. Maybe if Sony had a word they could have had that be a PlayStation selling point over the others including the fact its a physical release on PlayStation if i remember reading correctly.
