I have one. Actually I am on my third unit. First unit had dust blobs, convergence and uniformity problems. Second one was DOA. Third one still has some issue, but I will probably live with it or exchange it again if Epson can sort their quality issues out.

Overall, I like it, but three chip designs are going to have some of the issues I mentioned above. Sounds like you are coming from another LCD model. I would be interested in hearing your impressions if go this route. My previous unit was a Matterhorn DLP unit by Sharp. No uniformity or convergence issues due to the one chip design, but its color reproduction was average and it suffered from color wheel whine like many DLP units.

1080p DLP is still too high priced or feature limited on the lower end. Overall I think my Epson is still a significant step up over the previous Sharp unit I owned.

BTW, I have got the Pro version. Came with an extra bulb and nice ceiling/wall mount. Can't kick on it for the price I got from AVS.

My Z4 doesn't have any convergence (visible from 10 feet, if i get to 1inch i can see that i can a little on the blue section) or dust blob, but i have a slight uniformity..

That, i don't really care because i'am completly Allergic to DLP (i see the Blue filter on screen all the time each time i flick the eye) so DLP is a no go until 3CHIP are less than 12,000$ LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL... and no tech is perfect.. or will ever be..

My friend bought a DLP RPTV last year.. and i see the filter (Blue) a lot.., but he doesn't so he's happy..

Just ordered one as my first projector. I won't be in my new home for another month so it'll be a while until I can try it out. Can't wait.

I have one. Actually I am on my second unit as my first had convergence issues . Unfortunately this unit is three or four times louder than the previous one I had. I am still struggling with whether or not I should replace it just for that.

The PQ is fantastic. It is truly an amazing deal as well. I couldn't be happier with the performance. I recommend it.

I'm looking at getting one pretty soon. I have lots of experience with the sanyo's but it seems epson get better reviews, i think there biased and paid for. My work is a sanyo dealer so i get dealer pricing. sanyo and epson are priced very equal with the 1080p model and come with an extra bulb. But i'm even thinking the z5 model might be worth picking up as its so cheap and says it can do 1080p through hdmi. it's only $1150 cost compared to the $2200 of the 1080p z2000 model. but are these better then the epson?

yeah but the Z5 will show the grid way more... I had a Z4 i can clearly see the grid at 87inch from 10 feet. On a 1080p you see nothing. The Opacity (white level) is greater, color look way better (uniform).... The Z2000 have D7 panel , while the Z5 have D5 panel...

Personnally i think Sanyo will drop the MSRP in March to compensate for the rebate that is now gone since 1 day now..

I don't know if they are biased or paid for. But I have worked in the past (previous job) a lot with Epson projectors and they do tend to be good, which was why I usually went with them in our installs if I could find a local dealer.

I own the 1080UB and I love it. Picture quality is excellent on my 92" gray screen.

I own the Epson 1080ub. I bought it in January 2008 for 2,999 as soon as it became available. I got $200 back in rebate plus a free ceiling mount. This is my fourth projector in the last 10 years after one Sharp and two Sony's. I also have a lot of experience with projectors at work. It is by far the best projector under $3,000. Make sure you buy the Digital Video Essentials and adjust your projector as well as your TV.

The 1080UB projector includes the new D7 C2Fine LCD panels. The LCD panels in Panasonic PT-AE2000U also made by Epson.

The following sites review the Epson Home Cinema 1080UB. The reviewers also compare it with Panasonic and Sony:
http://www.projectorreviews.com/epso...80ub/index.php , Hot Product Award
http://www.projectorcentral.com/epso..._ub_review.htm , Editor's Choice Award

I bought mine from this dealer. Apparently, there is still a $200 rebate until 3/31/08. The dealer will give you a free $100 mount and does charge for shipping. Epson Home Cinema 1080UB for ($2,999-$200+Free Ceiling Mount+Free Shipping):

I have this model but in Australia it is called the TW-2000, our first projector; easy to set up, 3 year warranty (even the lamp) plus an extra 6 months for registering online! We love it - check out the pictures from the link below; the screen is a 125" with 16:9 aspect, best of both worlds, maximum height for native 16:9 content like Planet Earth, huge 4:3 screen for TV, and we never notice the bars when we have a movie on that is 2.35:1 aspect

I've been running mine for a month now, and absolutely love the clarity and depth of the picture. No convergence issues.

However, I've gotten notice (twice) about the pj overheating. It says the air vent may be blocked or the air filter needs cleaned. I have it on a wall stand with the pj's feet all the way up to allow for more air circulation. The filter is clear. Anyone else with this issue? It's run about 102 hours now...
