I just watched a 2hr cut that can be found on You tube. There was a great film in there dying to get out! I've seen some of the footage before but there were some new interesting plot developments that were new to me! If only Cannon hadn't cut the budget in half this would have been a lot better than the disappointing 3rd film. Surely Warner's could reassemble the film and finish the effects if the footage survives. Chris Reeve and Gene Hackman played off each other so well and I'd love to it reconstructed. A Warner archive release maybe?

It’s the most comic-book Superman film we’ve ever had, at least until James Gunn’s Superman film.

The cuts were brutal and the special effects were terrible (the biggest downfall of any Superman film), however at its heart it’s a great Superman story. S0 much so, James Gunn is touching on some of its story elements.

I wish a new cut was available with the footage re-inserted.

I know some want an extended cut of superman 4. I wanted it too when I was a kid. is it possible that the extended cut would make it worse then it already is.
