What, no Steelbook-only release inexplicably missing from one or more countries? What is this sorcery?!

Thought Sony don't do slips. Pretty much the same with Universal who had stopped including BD with many newer Amaray releases but still charges £24. No thanks. Even at 3 for £50 I won't buy Universal slipless 4K disc only releases.

Got mine Saturday, I don't normally buy full price pre-orders, but I hoped it would have a slip so I ordered £23.
No slip it's likely going back, cheapskating penny pinchers.
It'll be in an offer soon enough.

People if slips are such a big deal, before calling out the home guard, what about inkycustoms for example?

Not sure I get your point, I suppose you said it in jest that's ok.

Pay full price on a pre-order I expect it to have a slipcover as they are normally limited to the initial print run, so yes they are cheapskates, mind to be fair there are no pictures in the UK or YouTube with a slip I just assumed there would be as this often happens, my mistake and impatience.

Not in a hurry to watch it in 4K so can wait until a sale.
Probably a 2 for £30 Rarewaves in due course, add in the 10% off, £13.50 as opposed to £23 quite a saving!

Can't be confident inkycustoms would fit as keepcases seem to come in all manner of sizes these days + they are what £10+ delivered and they might arrive damaged. Anyway I would have that option if i can pick it up for £13.50

In the UK, we got 2 issues with Universal newer releases:

1. Lack of slip cover - not a big deal for many.
2. Omission of BD - again not a big deal but the asking price has stayed the same (shrink-flation). Look at the US releases from Uni. Slip, BD and digital code at a lower price.

The 'pot calling the kettle black' refered to steve 526 and the fact that they expected a slip when the title was quite cheap to begin with, and then saying if there is no slip the title goes back, but calling the studio cheap for not including a slip. Yes it was meant in jest, to say that person a calls out person b for doing prety much the same as they are

I'm not hung up on slips. I found out about custom slips from big pauly on youtube That I see he looks to have no problem with them

What are you talking about, full price for the pre order is £22.99 and that is not cheap, so as far as I'm concerned I expected a slipcover.

Cheap is when it is in a 2 for £30 type offer or 3 for £50.

Anyway that's enough of this nonsense i'm done.

Both those points are shrinkflation.

The slipcase was one reason to buy full price day 1. Now there’s no point and happy to wait for later promotions.

Dropping digital codes was another cost saving here. They used the excuse of Flixster closing and no one including Disney was prepared to pay to launch a Movies Anywhere plus I assume Apple iTunes and Google Play apart from the occasional code charged too much to make viable.

Stupid on behalf of the studios as they lose higher price sales but I guess needed with inflation still running at 5% or so ignoring stuff like energy, what I call real inflation as you see in your weekly food shop as well.

The issue you now have which you haven’t seen for the last few decades is that production costs aren’t falling and in fact rising quite fast. Those falling costs helped to offset price inflation and is why CD and DVD prices held steady for decades so in real terms became cheaper and cheaper. Think those days are over and now prices will only go up.

ref '2. Omission of BD' Are you sure? My UK 4K most definatley includes a blu
shrink-flation has been going on at supermarkets for about 20 years

I'm far to polite to say it, but others might sugest that you import if you believe that to be the better option

Probably the most shocking is chocolates.

Regular bars these days are the same as the small sizes I remember as a child.

But pretty much all food per item has shrunk in size apart from those defined like a pint of milk (although some convenience stores now use the smaller 1/2 litre) and 6 eggs (although seen packs of 5 in some stores).

This is a Sony release, so BD is included. Universal not including BDs.

US still remains the best for Universal / Paramount releases.

You forgot * after Paramount, since some of releases in Spain/Italy/Nordics are better than US.

From encoding perspective, yes but if you find Italian dub/sub on the US release, it becomes the better release due to inclusion of slip, BD and digital copy.
