really doesnt matter with HD DVD already done for and the fact that Tosh was suspected of doing the same thing with Paramount.

my theory has always been this: if Warner was paid off, there shouldnt be a announced date of cut off for HD DVD releases. if they were gonna be paid off, Sony sure as hell should have Warner cut off HD DVD releases immediately like Paramount did.

Perhaps, if true, Warner was contractually obligated to support HD DVD through May.

Anyone expecting any party in this conflict to have clean hands is a fool. Not that I consider the purchase of exclusivity to necessarily be dirty, but that's certainly how some view these moves.

So how much Sony pay Toshiba to stop making HD-DVD machine? How much Sony pay Wal-mart, Netflix and Best buy to go exclusive? Do I really care? Toshiba pay dirty with Paramount so dirty we play, now see who gets the short end of the stick. Blu-ray won, end of story!

If it was an auction like the article says than hey, Toshiba had their shot too. Sony gave more... IF this whole story is true.

here's an interesting thought. HD DVD paid Paramount and only got 6 months out of it, so supposedly dont have to pay the entire 150M.

now, if sony did pay this 400M, the war ends in 1 month. do they still owe warner the 400M considering hd dvd is dead b4 warner even stops shipping hd dvd's.

The whole failure of reporting the so called "Warner Bribe" is, if true, this time both sides were probably offering similar amounts. So they basically cancel each other out and you are left with the studio having to chose based on other criteria.

The Paramount payoff was different in that the BDA was caught unaware didn't get a chance to counter.

Here is why I don't buy these payoff rumors or exclusive contracts.

If there was an exclusive contract as there was with Paramount/Dreamworks, you would see every single boxoffice title put on the Blu-ray format day/date. You are not seeing that with any stuido EXCEPT Sony (and Disney has been very good about releasing so I'm not sure about them).

All I know is if it was true Fox, Warner, and New Line all are somehow under this "contract", they would be forced to release everything and they are not doing it. Universal and Paramount/Dreamworks were and it was proven time and time again with all their boxoffice movies released day/date.

Warner execs said there was no payoff, no money received. These blog writers are just trying to get noticed. Uniformed BS is their claim to fame.

Well atleast the BDA got it's money worth with winning the war and putting HD DUD 6 feet under LOL. Toshiba paid 150 mil to Paramount for what 5-6 months of exclusivity and then committed suicide LOL.

Like another person said, it's fair either way. I don't trust what these execs say though. Whether it's true or not doesn't matter but I don't trust them.
