Digital Copy on Blu-ray? - Blu-ray Forum

I have noticed that some of the new fox releases (Hitman, AVP) have a digital copy logo on the Blu-ray box. Does anyone have any idea how this will work with Blu-rays?

And what will a ps3 achieve? The digital copy only works on i-tunes and playsforsure. it is currently not psp compatable.

it might be what tehy did with the Family Guy Starwars thingy, they will have a blu-ray copy and then another cd where you insert to your computer and punch in the code from itunes, it sucks btw because its a waste of cd and it would be much better to give us the code on that piece of paper or have the copy on the bd disc and transfer it to the psp, but NOOO!!!! we have to waste one cd thats useless after you punch in the code.

Oh, I did not know that you got 2 discs. it is all clear now. I have the UK version of Blue Harvest but us Brits did not get the Digital Copy version.

For real a one time download?

Seems kind of lame then. Would've been much more cost effective for them to just give you a code to download off their website if that is the case.

The fox site says that you can only have it on one computer (PC or Mac) and on one portable device. It is only currently compatable with i-tunes and microshaft playsfor sure.

Just a shame you cant load it onto your PS3 and watch it on a PSP. Soon maybe?

The whole PS3 -> PSP digital copy is what Sony Pictures is working on. Fox is different.

Fox's digital copy with Hitman, AVP, Juno, etc is just including a DVD in the case that you stick in your computer where you can then load a DRM'ed copy of the movie into iTunes for your ipod, iphone, etc. There's also a Windows Media DRM'ed file for "PlaysForSure" devices too. Right now I don't think there's any way to get Fox's digital copy onto the PSP...

with the digital copy, how small does the file get shrinked down to usually? i was thinking 500MBish, am i close???

I'm sure it can be converted. Not sure what threshold this discussion would be bordering on - but I will save it just in case.

Sucks that FOX is not using the PSP as a media outlet device. Crappy really.

Yes. 5-600 will get you DVD quality.
