Yes, there are now a handful of live survey threads regarding movie decades, but how could we possibly resist re-evaluating the 1960s, a fascinating bridge between Old and New Hollywood, and a particularly fertile era of international film.
Once again, it seems prudent to implement a weighted system - this time, participants are asked to list their Top 25 of theatrical releases between January 1, 1960 and December 31, 1969. The counting will be as follows: 25 points for the #1 choice, 24 points for the #2 spot, 23 for #3, etc. down the line. The #25 selection will now be awarded 2 pts, in order to distinguish those entries from the Honorables. If indicated that there's no particular order, each selection will be awarded 7 points. If you'd like to list some Honorable Mentions past 25 selections, please do so - each title past the 25th will be awarded 1 point. Please, just try not to list 600,000 films! Don't imagine this will be tallied any time soon, so there's plenty of chances to change titles and lists. Of course, any comments, thoughts, suggestions, questions or any discourse regarding Cinema of the great 1960s or anything else are encouraged and appreciated. As always... thank you to everyone and cheers! Starting off (this order may be subject to change in the coming days): 1. The Battle of Algiers 2. The Wild Bunch 3. Harakiri 4. Il Sorpasso (The Easy Life) 5. Lawrence of Arabia 6. The Pornographers 7. The Saragossa Manuscript 8. The Hustler 9. Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill! 10. Black Girl 11. The Leopard 12. Nothing But a Man 13. Victim 14. Kwaidan 15. Yojimbo 16. Cleo from 5 to 7 17. The Damned (1969, Luchino Visconti) 18. Once Upon a Time in the West 19. The Apartment 20. Le Samourai 21. High School (Frederick Wiseman) 22. Romeo and Juliet 23. The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance 24. Woman in Chains (La Prisonniere) 25. Macario Honorable Mentions: Rocco & His Brothers, High and Low, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, Mister Buddwing, Samurai Rebellion, Army of Shadows, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf, Z, Portrait of Jason, The Pit & the Pendulum, House of Usher, Red Beard, The Pawnbroker, The Servant, Chimes at Midnight, Charulata, Belle du dour, Hud, Mamma Rosa, Planet of the Apes, Bonnie and Clyde, Marat/Sade, Memories of Underdevelopment, Medium Cool, Loves of a Blonde, A Man for All Seasons, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, Burn!, It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, Vivre Sa Vie, Mickey One and just too many others...
