I'm kind of struggling to justify buying this though. I suppose I'd like to see the big documentary but I already own the Second Sight LE, the disc of which I only watched a year or so ago, so realistically I'm not going to revisit the film itself again for a few more years still. I suppose one also can't help but be slightly sceptical about the point of it being in 4K when it's basically just talking head interviews mixed with pre-smartphone era camera footage. Knowing me I'll end up ordering it anyway... |

I can't wait to grab this. I've always loved the movie, but for some reason I never got around to grabbing the Second Sight release.
Good for Chris Stuckman. Glad to see him doing his thing. I'm hoping Shelby Oaks is at least enjoyable. Regardless, having your first film distributed by Neon is something to be proud of. |

I like this one and I have the Second Sight limited edition but this seems like a very odd film to release on 4K. The majority of the film is the family members sitting on a couch being interviewed.
Also, isn't Chris Stuckmann that YouTube movie reviewer that refuses to say anything negative about a film? |

You've noticed that too? His feature film debut is coming out soon, so I wonder if he'd rather be nice so that finding talent to work with in the future isn't difficult.

I've never watched a single video of his, just heard others talking about how he'll only do positive movie reviews.

I'd never actually watched the guy until the drama around his recent review decision happened. Not my cup of tea, but it's cool to see youtubers branching out into other areas like that. I don't hate them nearly as much as most of the forum lol |

I'm guessing they didn't fix the audio that's been botched since the film was released. All of the dialogue has pitch correction artifacts suggesting it went through a poorly done PAL conversion somewhere in the pipeline. This theory is bolstered by the deleted/extended scenes having 25fps timecode in the corner. ("If that's the case why don't the deleted scenes have the same artifacts?" No clue! I'm just glad there is clean dialogue to compare to.) I made Umbrella aware of the issue but haven't seen any indication that it was fixed. |

This. I'm a huge horror buff, with hundreds of titles in each of just about every subgenre, in every style from fake-umetary to found footage to haunting and possessions to alien abductions to extreme hardcore gore and every type of slasher fare. I buy almost anything with even marginally redeeming qualities, if it catches my fancy sufficiently. That said, I just didn't click with this in the least, and I have no idea why. I recall renting it from Netflix on dvd on several occasions, and each time, I never made it more than about halfway through. Each time I asked myself why I needed this in my collection, and could not produce that answer. I admit I even find the trailer uninteresting. I am at a loss now, mainly for not having ever finished the film, so I have no proper basis for an opinion. For those who are simply smitten by it, why is it so beloved and highly rated? What is the specific nature of the appeal? I figured early on that it might be a cross between something like The Dead Room and Phoenix Forgotten, but it's nowhere near the style or tone of either of those.
