United Kingdom Hereditary 4K UHD (2018)

Steelbook only at the moment

Quote:
UHD/Atmos Limited Edition SteelBook

This SteelBook edition truly plays with the artwork. The family tree and leaves are nicely debossed while the backside of the SteelBook has a hidden message in the spot layer.
Release Date : 06 Oct 25

The inclusion of Atmos is nice but the fact that it's Entertainment in Video has me concerned as their encoding is known to be kinda shit.

Their 4K encodes have been quite good so far.

You can get the German UHD very cheap from Amazon Spain, though the Director's Cut is only in 1080p. I suspect A24 has a tight hold on it and won't license the 4K master.

I was referring to their Blu-Rays and had not heard about their 4Ks.

Amazon UK: https://amzn.eu/d/fKtrJ2a

Rarewaves: https://www.rarewaves.com/products/5...-uhd-steelbook

$50 is a lot lol, would happily settle for a standard cased one in the $30 range.

But the DC is not really worth it anyway.

I mean, I like the Theatrical cut more but plenty of people prefer the longer Director's cut.

Sick of this trend of 4K's only coming out in steelbook collectors edition's. Just give me a standard case edition for £20. I've held off picking Hereditary up on blu waiting on a 4K but I'm not paying 35 quid, the blu now at only 8 quid seems a more sensible option.

Agreed 100%. At least give buyers the option.

So this UK version has embossing/debossing in contrast to the AUS release that does not have that?

Steelbooks are a way of increasing prices above the actual cost difference between making a steelbook and a plastic case.

Makes them more special as a collectors item than a generic plastic case.

These days studios are about maximising revenue and that’s fancy limited editions rather offering cheapest possible versions to customers.

At least in U.K. & Europe Disney (and Fox) are giving the choice on back catalogue UHDs whereas in the US it’s steelbooks or nothing which they drip feed to the market to keep prices high.

That’s the way the markets moved. Means it has made be focus my buying on essential titles only and not nice to haves, so the numbers have reduced dramatically.

There are many labels I just ignore as can’t afford their prices like Imprint. They are happy to sell to a very small number of collectors globally at massive prices but that business model obviously works for them given the number of new titles they are releasing. Many more than other independents.

Ended up preordering this at Atomic along with HARD BOILED. Hopefully, someone out there will be interested in buying just the Steelbook, with the Lionsgate DVD included even! Only want that 4K disc with the Atmos track.
