Default EA offers $2 billion for Take Two

Update: Take Two have just announced that the latest offer, of $26 per share has been rejected.

Electronic Arts today announced that it has made an offer to purchase Take Two, parent company of Rockstar Games, for around $2 billion.

EA proposed $25 cash for each share of Take Two, an offer which was rejected. A further offer has now been made, of $26 per share, which EA CEO John Riccitiello claims is a "unique opportunity" for shareholders. At the close of business on Friday, Take Two's shares were valued at $17.36 each. The $26 offer is almost $2 greater than the company's highest share price in the past twelve months.

Hmm, im kind of glad. I think EA would not allow half the content that take two allows in their games.

So in other words EA doesn't allow good content to be put in games?

No, im saying that take two puts out different kinds of games than what EA does. EA likes to mainly put out non m rated games. They water down alot of their series, dont allow blood , etc. Im not saying blood makes the game, but if EA was publishing say GTA, do you see it being as violent as it is?

good that Take Two rejected EA. they are doing pretty well off by themselves, and after the release of GTA IV they'll be racking in the dough for quite some time.

I used to work for EA (Canada), and thier philosophy is simple..

if you can't beat em', buy em'.

Completely unimaginative, un-innovative games, reissued every year with certain 'new features'.

They have extremely talented artists working for development directors that never take chances....very sad.

Good for Take Two.

EA has enough control of the gaming market.

Don't really care about Take Two, but I'm glad to see EA get turned away.

They are a terrible company that just tries to milk the marketplace.

Other than that, they're fine.

i hate EA! they "bought" Bioware just before mass effect release

they are acting like that just because their own games don t make the benefit they fixed... EA kills creativity

Good for TakeTwo! EA is quickly becoming the M$ of VG console software. They buy all the little guys and either drop the product, or cut corners because they know people will buy a game sequel on name recognition. Bah-humbug to you too Mr. Scrooge!

I hope EA doesnt buy T2. If anything, I wan't T2 to buy EA or something, because I really can't stand EA.

If a franchise like GTA will fall in EA's hands, that would be a bad day for gamers everywhere.
