Default Will WB finally step up their Blu-ray A/V Quality?

Are we going to see loseless audio on all movies from now on? What about the video quality, will there be any increase?

Same question to Paramount and Universal Studios. It would be nice if the BDA enforced a policy to ensure that any title released on BD would include at least one lossless audio format. If not, don't bother.

Paramount was doing some reasonable work with the PQ. And just as they were going offer lossless/LPCM on their titles they got paid off to stop supporting Blu-ray.

Universal (Microsoft) didn't put much effort into HDM since the launch of HD DVD.

Thats a pretty good idea - although I'm more concerned with the PQ. If they BDA had rules about the release of movies by the major studies...the consumer would benefit IMHO.

I was shocked when I popped 28 Days Later into my Blu-ray plaer. There's no excuse for that shit.

So it is a good thing. There should be no complaining. I thought it added to 28 Days Later.

Eh, I just don't see the sense in buying a movie in Blu-ray if it is the same PQ as SDVD. It just kills me to watch blury movies.

28 Days later was intentionally filmed that way. Only the end scene was actually on film.
It's the best presentation of the source material you'll find.
Remember it's not always about PQ either, but AQ. DTS MA HD is hard to beat.

If they do I will have no choice but to re-purchase the Harry Potter movies.

I noticed that on 28 Days, though it's mostly a transfer from PAL video, the video bitrate meter is through the roof pretty much all the way through. Weird for an intrinsically low-res film but I guess they did what they could PQ-wise.

We're not going to see any changes from Warner Bros. in how they master movies for Blu-ray until after their entire cycle of dual format HD-DVD/BD releases is exhausted.

This is one reason why I have mixed feelings about very popular WB titles like The Matrix being released any time soon. I don't want a straight port of the VC-1 encode for HD-DVD being vomited onto Blu-ray. It would be better for WB to go back into the post production suites and encode a better quality video stream.
