Default Power DVD ? Settings ?..or me

It's most likely me, but any input would be greatly appreciated. My problem is this, and after reading some of the other threads, it seem to be common. I've tried a few things and come up with nothing. I've built a new media centre computer with a Pioneer BDC-S02BK Blu-Ray Combo Drive in it . I have upgraded PowerDVD and it seems to play but no picture and sound. Here are my specs:

Pioneer BDC-S02BK Blu-Ray Combo Drive
Nvidia Geforce 8500Gt Graphics Card (HDCP Supported)
Gigabyte S-Series MB with Intel Duo Core 2 Processor
Samsung 500g HD
Windows XP Home

This is running to my Samsung 50" plasma ( HD Tuner). No other monitor. I also have an HDMI cable connected via DVI adaptor from Graphics Card to the TV. Here is what the config screen said when I tried to play X-men: Last Stand:

Player Information:
Player Region Code: Not Specified
Current Drive: D:

Display Information:
Video Mode: Progressive
Display Mode: DirectShow
FourCC Code: NV12
Surface Type: Hardware Video Accelerator (DxVA)

Audio Attributes: Not Available

Hardware Information:
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E4500 @ running at 2200 MHz
3DNow! Technology: Not Detected
Enhanced 3DNow! Technology: Not Detected
3DNow! Professional Technology: Not Detected
IA MMX Technology: In Use
IA Streaming SIMD Extensions: In Use
IA SSE 2: In Use
Video Accelerator: DirectX VA (in use)
Multispeaker Audio Device: Realtek HD Audio output (not in use)
SPDIF Output Device: Realtek HD Audio output (not in use)

I am fairly new to all this so it's probably something I am not doing. Any help would be great.
