Default POTC:COTBP New disc??

I want to order Pirates of the Caribbean; Curse of the Black Pearl to complete my collection. Off course I want the fixed disc, and not the faulty framed disc. Can I be sure I get the new disc when I order the Blu Ray at Amazon???

Couldn't find it with the search option?

All you have to do is type Pirates of the Caribbean in the search and its one of the first ones. You just wanted people to answer you quicker.

What was wrong with the original 1st disc anyway?

I just got so many topics on Pirates. I couldn't find my way through all the information. Don't judge that quick.

The first pressing got misframed parts. See over here;

a framing issue, typically, the heads would get cut off... or partially removed (off screen) Disney was very kind to replace those discs.

They did a wonderful job with the replacement process as well, I might add.

But no answer yet. Are the Blu Ray discs at, f.e. Amazon, replaced as well? Is it save to buy this title? For I do not live in the USA, and definately want to buy the US version for having 24bit Audio and the right framing.

I ordered it off of buy.com two weeks ago and the disk I got had none of the issues that people had been describing. I think they fixed the problem.

You'd be lucky to get the misframed one still. Sold mine on Ebay for around 12 bucks.. and of course disclosed the framing issue.

I think that by now the issue should have been resolved. You should be safe buying it, and if it in fact DOES have the frame problem, let them know and you can get your replacement disc.

I will try my luck on Amazon. What if I import a faulty region "A" disc to Europe. What is the Disney policy on that? I am just a bit cautious on this topic.

amazon sells more blu-rays than anyone (could be total bull but you know what i mean). they would have less of a stock than say some random best buy. you're much safer with amazon i'd assume.

Ok this is a question that bothers me too and I think the giant thread you mention is about the replacement.

I want to make sure that when I order from amazon, I do not get the misframed version. I'm an international customer and do not have the luxury of replacement disc, so it's important for me.

So the final verdict is that amazon.com has the corrected version in their stock?

I am glad you got the point, in contrary to some other people here.

Default Movie Covers/Case

Why are the cases for the first 2 Pirates movie radically different from the 3rd POTC movie?

I'm talking about that weird fugly silver/blue shield that covers the bottom right of the case. Dead Man's Chest and Curse of the Black Pearl both have it when I look at the titles on Amazon.

Yet At World's End does NOT have it....which I prefer. Is there any cases that are like that for the earlier 2 titles?

It was policiy of disney to have those bars. Just like the early DVD titles had a (mostly) purple bow with widescreen printed in it. Fortunately Disney dropped that quite quickly after the launch of BR.

There may be some old stock at some stores of on marketplaces such as this forum, e-bay, amazon marketplace. Watch out for old discs of part one with the wrong frames.

Oh I see...so Disney no longer does that retarded cover look then?

Thats good to know. Do you think POTC movies that are being made still have the same cover? Like if I went to Best Buy and looked at them would they still look like the stock photos Amazon has (with the wierd shield on the front)?

I've had that happen (but I ordered COTBP on release date). So after all that time they aknowledged the problem, and since shipping cost for them is too expensive they just refunded me the money. Amazon

Disney on the other hand wasn't helpful at all. I even told them I'd cover all the shipping costs, as long as I get the corrected disc, but they refused to send one overseas.

So please report back once you receive your disc. I want to complete my collection with the right disc as well
