That means the street prices will even be appreciably cheaper than that.

I would have thought that they are preparing for the introduction of the next gen TVs, (HDMI 1.3, 1440p?, and larger screen sizes).

Several years away and they won't be cheap when they finally do come out.

HDMI 1.3 is next year but for increased resolution.....well it's unknown at this time as to when this will happen.

But you can expect higher contrast ratios, faster response times, lower power consumption (compared to before) and lighter sets (or lesser weight)

It's why I put a question mark after 1440p , I was unsure over whether it would be out by Q4 2007. All the others make sense though, I personally am hoping for lighter sets, putting up that TV (Sony 46"XBR2) was hard work.
