Default Most reliable profile 1.0 player?

I have a PS3 in my living room and would like a player in my bedroom. I just want movie playback. Any suggestions for a reliable 1.0 player?

Go with either the panasonic or the sony. Remember, for the price of a stand alone that is profile 1.0+ you could get another PS3.

I own 3 BD players: Panny BD30, Sony 300 and Samsung 1200. Of these, I most highly recommend the BD30. I has been the most robust of these three players. The Sony 300 is also fine but it takes a long time to start-up and load. Other than that, this player has been stable and dependable. Avoid Samsung at all costs (based on my excperience with the 1200 - 1400 owners have had it a bit better but they have had their share of issues too). Lastly, the Panny BD30 is profile 1.1, the other are 1.0.

I agree. I just can't stand not having the ability of IR on the console. If the PS3 had IR i would have 2 and bought several for others for their HDTV's.

Hopefully they will come out with a remote that has both Bluetooth and IR capabilities.

For profile 1.0 I would recommend, if you can find one, Sony's BDP-S1. I've had one for over a year now and it has served me well. It's a little slow on the start up or loading discs but it's reliable. Personally you actually might want to spend the extra money and get the Panasonic BD30, because since you have a PS3 and are accustomed to how quick it is, the BD30 is the only standalone that comes close to it's loading times. (the BD30 loads almost as quick as a regular dvd player.)

My first gen Panny BD10 has played every disc I've thrown at it. Wonderful machine.
