Yup. Version 2.0 added a bunch of great features, including spell check. All you have to do is right click in the entry field and select "Spell check this field".

I have come across a great little one (only problem is I can't have it work) in the google tool bar there is a spell checker and it works really well when I remember to use it

Ok, I have noticed quite a few posts recently in which the titles have many misspelled words. Is it too much to ask for this site to instigate a mandatory spell check on the title before a new thread is approved.

Seriously, this is a very well respected web site in which many thousands of people view and for the new posts to have misspelled words in the title that appear on the front page is something that should be fixed immediately.

I know many other posts to this topic have suggested people can spell check with their web browser, but many people are too lazy to do this.

yeah, my firefox catches everything. Except since I turned on the custom reply dashboard where theres no html, just whatever you want it to do. for some reason doesnt catch it on there =/

If they don't spell check with their browser, what makes you think they will with a site spell checker? My problem is everyone has access to the EDIT feature. After telling numerous people that they have major mistakes in their posts - they acknowledge it and leave it. So, that should tell you something right there too. People don't care.

It's much cooler to look like an idiot these days

lol, my problem isnt spelling, its typing. I am a self taught typer and I am bad for using the s for the a key and several other ones, but I always correct it when noticed.

Not self taught but I understand. Not sure how it is for you but my fingers have a mind of their own and know exactly what keys they need to press. If I or my mind try to step in - all hell breaks loose and typos happen. So I just let my fingers do the walking. They also know when a mistake happens and correction is automatic. Kinda scary really.

I can talk to people while I type and I don't have to look at the screen or keyboard to know what is going on and whether a mistake has been made. Have not been tested in a while but I believe I am beyond 100wpm these days. Especially when my damn space key is not sticking because of some sugary drink that was spilled. Gotta get that fixed.

What I want is for the site to spell check the title, not even give the user the option. It cannot be that difficult to parse the title into words and compare them against a regular dictionary and then a separate blu-ray dictionary with words tat are used often at this site like onkyo, dts hd-ma, etc.

Edit ....with words that are....

Yeah, but I can't see where to customise the language. For instance, Firefox has just flagged "customise" as being incorrectly spelled. In proper English (i.e., that which is taught in England!), words like customise end in "ise" not "ize".

I think my biggest pet peeve is people who don't know the difference between "could care less" and "couldn't care less" (as in "I could care less about PiP extras on my Blu-rays"). If you "could care less", then you like/want something, which is the opposite of what most people actually mean. WHat you really mean is "I could not care less", that is, you don't care for said feature.
