Default Guitar Hero III - Headset Problem

I just purchased Guitar Hero III (PS3) only to find out that when I play online with a friend, we cannot hear each other. It almost sounds as if the other person is there, but they are breaking up.

I have never had this problem with any other games when playing online. the only thing close to this was with Lego Star Wars and the problem there was that I could hear my friend, but could not always get them to connect.

I searched the net and it seems many people have the same question as me with no good answer. I used the search "guitar hero 3 headset problem ps3" if you want to see the results. I probably won't talk too much in game, but its boring for me to play online and not be able to talk to someone.

I just want to reiterate, the problem is exclusive with this game. My NAT type is 2, I play Burnout Paradise, R6V2, COD4 with no such problems. Thanks in advance for your help.

It's not you, your friend, or either connection. I had the same problems with GHIII too. Whenever I tried playing GHIII with my friend in Vancouver, we could not hear one another most of the time, and very occasionally, one of us would be able to hear the other, but not vice versa. Bottom line, Activision is horrible with online support.

We tell each other in advance which game type and number of rounds and look for the host in the room. Pretty dumb system to not be able to make a private room.

works just fine on the 360 so I don't think its Activision. Maybe a bad connection at the time you were trying to play each other or maybe low batteries if using wireless or bluetooth headsets.

No, it's Activision. The reason your voice chat works fine on the 360 is because you're talking over Live. Because that infrastructure exists on the 360, I think Activision felt they could half ass their online portion of GHIII. The reasons I know it's not a problem on my end?

1) I use Shaw High Speed Extreme Internet (up to 10 mbps download/1mbps upload), which is double the speed of the North American average.

2) I have multiple peripherals for voice chat purposes. PSEye, Logitech USB Headset, Motorola Bluetooth Headset... all of which I use regularly without problems, except on GHIII.

3) I've experienced this problem with all of my PS3 friends, regardless of location (Vancouver, Buffalo, Omaha, Fort Lauderdale, L.A.). And all of my PS3 friends report the same problem with trying to voice chat with anyone else on the GHIII on the PSN network.
