Default Blu-Ray recorder prices

In the past 5-6 years, I've used a few DVD recorders to convert old home videos to DVD (with mixed results). But before I convert any more mini-DVs to DVD, I'd like to wait until I can convert everything over to Blu-Ray.

When I've searched Google and Amazon for Blu-Ray recorders, I find almost nothing. The one Blu-Ray recorder I found was in the range of $3,000.

So I'm wondering if there are any affordable Blu-Ray recorders out there. And if not, does anyone know when affordable (under $500) Blu-Ray recorders will be available — or what price we might expect to pay for one in the near future?

Thanks,
Mark

Maybe next year, but it will cost more then $500, probably $1k & mostly be the same model but tweeked a little of the one there are selling now in Japan.
I am looking forword to BD-RW players but that is about 4 years maybe 5 years from now.

Just going to have to wait a few years, next year we should hear something at CES 2009, but like I said the 1st gen are not going to be cheap, it will take a year (after release date) or 2 (maybe 3 years) to get to the $500 price.
