Just wondered what most of you that have an upconverting receiver think about the quality of the picture.
On my Yamaha RX-V3800, I tried upconverting my 480i Dish Network signal that goes in to the receiver via S-Video(best available), to 1080P and I was not impressed. Picture filled the whole screen, but was a little hazy looking. I then tried the 720P setting, and it looked a little better, but still not as good as the 480i signal when I ran it straight to the TV. I think I'm just going to run the signal "through" the receiver with no upconversion. I'm actually thinking about just running the Dish Network straight to the TV via S-Video and just using the receiver for the audio via optical. Would be a little more switching inputs, but I would rather have a better picture. What do most of you guys do? |
