Default Onkyo 605 speaker Calibration Issue

Hey all. This isnt a major problem, but very time i try to calibrate my Onkyo 605 speaker distance with the microphone that came with it, the receiver auto-shuts off while making the noise from the third speaker (only while calibrating)...

Any help appreciated.

I can’t help you with the microphone/receiver malfunction. However, I suggest that you calibrate your speakers with an SPL meter and preferably with Video Essentials DVD. The following thread has detailed instructions on how to calibrate your system.

check your manual where it describes using auto calibration. if this isnt addressed in there then i would call who ever you bought it from.

I probably wont end up doing that. I cant go spending 100 bucks like that out of nowhere. Not to mention, the 605 has the feature built in - making it kind of useless for me.
Its just a matter of making the thing work. If I have to call technical support i will... i guess.

If it starts to bug me having it uncalibrated, and i come across some money - iill definately do that. Im just not a big fan of buying DVDs online unless its ebay. ...which even still is a bit iffy.
Still. Thanks for the advice, I might end up following it.

It's not really that hard to use a measuring tape and set the delays (distances) manually.

You are probably going to EQ the system to your personal tastes anyway, so I would just set it up manually and save the hastle.

Yeah. Thats what i did (Well, without the measuring tape part. )
I just kinda thought that it would work better if i were to calibrate it. :/

Nope. Nothing wrong with it. I even bought new speaker wire and re-did every single one of my speakers (not because of calibrating it. Cause i ran out of speaker wire needed to move my speakers ). It still does it.

Not much I can do though. Im fine with it like this. I just kinda figured "mine as well make it perfect", you know?
