Drugs and Films - Blu-ray Forum

Does anyone enjoy drug related movies as much as I do? I don't know what it is but I really like them and I pretty much don't do drugs! I guess the subject matter just enables great stories.

There are so many good ones but I'm drawing a blank right now.

Drugs are bad, mmmmmkay?

I puff the odd doobie, but other than that I dont touch drugs. I agree that movies about drugs can be very entertaining. Blow is one of my favourites of all time, along with Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. I really like the pothead comedies like, Half Baked, Grandmas Boy, Friday, How High, Harold and Kumar, etc.

drugstore cowboy (classic and a must see)
homegrown (i think thats the name, one where the whole town grows weed)
grandma's boy (video games and weed)
jesus son
bong water
easy rider

hot rod (honorable mention for the trippin on acid while using a table grinder)

i hate drugs and alcohol, they ruin lives, but i love that weed

First of all, I'm not an illegal drug user but movies that are involved with illegal drugs can be very entertaining. I overexaggerate when I watch drug movies like Scarface. I put myself where he's at and rule Miami but in reality I don't wanna be involved in any of that.

You're talking about that HBO series, correct? I enjoyed that show alot and would like it on blu-ray. When it does come, that's a sure buy.

i would have to say 1 up that and go with the wire also.

its about life in Baltimore...specifically the heroin/crack scene.

Its an excellent series. Great reviews on IMDB.com

I've never seen The Wire, how is it and what's it about? I haven't had HBO in a very long time and missed out on a lot of shows

The Wire is about an undercover unit in Balitmore...think Sapranos but in the ghetto. And better.

Sounds good! I especially like the H junkies! Trainspotting was good as was Candy with Heath Schuler. Thanks for the tip...I'll definitely have to pick this one up!

Jokerboy, I haven't seen Layercake nor did I know it was a drug related film. I'll have to pick it up as it's usually pretty cheap! What would you rate it for story and P/Q-A/Q?

wasn't scarface a kingpin? anyway,

1) DRUGSTORE COWBOY
2) fear and loathing in las vegas ( the book is 10X better, but the movie is still good)
3) requiem for a dream
4) trainspotting
5) the wire

honorable mention, lock, stock and 2 smoking barrels!

these are my top 4 druggy movies, the wire is my top tv series, charm city, baby, represent!
