Default PS3 addition for media center

I just thought that it would be nice if the PS3 could back up dvds to a hard disk and play them back with menus and chapters. Mostly everyone here uses the ps3 for video playback now and it would be nice to have this feature. Also in the future to have blu-ray backups aswell.

Just thought if anyone else would like a feature like this.

I'd rather have the space for games and demos and the like. Though I do watch blu-rays, I do both gaming and movies as you can see from my sig.

this is more for the people that want the menus and chapters, it would make a nice media center if done properly. The player is already there they just have to point to the hardrive.

I have a hard time streaming HD content, but SD content is no problem.

The HD streams and looks good, it just needs to spend a long time to buffer and load. So it will start to play and then pause and not want to move. When that happens, i just copy it to the PS3 hard drive (it is actually faster) and then watch it there and remove it when I'm done.
Don't care about the menus.

hahaha, you'd need a HUGE harddrive to do that. especially if you wanted to keep the HD quality. unless of course you were thjinking of just having a few movies on it at a time.

no. i personally prefer the physical media. it doesn't at all bother me to put a disc in to my ps3. besides the fact that it takes up to much space.

If I do, I won't need physical media anymore. Just go for digital downloads.

But I don't. it's not a big deal to me.

I do all the backup, streaming from dedicated mediaserver that i built myself. PS3 makes perfect upnp client, so I'm happy.
