New To Forum. League of xtrdny Gentlemen problem w Samsung: Stuck in Slideshow mode - Blu-ray Forum

Hi I am new to the forum, I just got a bluray (nov) -samsung bp1000 (I think its bp) anyway, I have watched a dozen or so movies and WOW, Not disapionted that I had to buy a new tv to do it.
I just got a disk from blockbuster.com (League of dist. gentlemen) and when I play it, it shows slideshow across the led readout and will not let me do anything. Has anyone with a samsung had this happen?

I don't have a Samsung so can't help you on that but rest assured there are a lot of clever people out there - I have had a lot of excellent advice.

Welcome! You made a wise choice. League of Extraordinary Gentlemen is a great Blu-Ray title in terms of picture and audio quality. I just watched this movie last night on my Samsung without any problems.

Make sure you have updated the firmware on your player. LXG uses some of the newer Java-based Blu-Ray features and you have to upgrade the firmware on the Samsung in order for it to playback properly. If you see a series of colored lights during the loading screens instead of an hourglass, you probably have the latest version. If not, go here for the free upgrade and follow the instructions...

If you have the latest firmware, you will see a series of colored lights and then it will switch to a circle of dots. The Samsung will display "Slideshow" on the display, but this is normal. Keep in mind that it's going to take a LONG time to load, but you should get to the main menu eventually. From there, it should play fine.

I agree.

Although you would have to bear with it activating Blu-ray region-coding.

Though I know that European versions allow the DVD region to be manipulated and from there you can select Region O/ALL (for DVD movies)

I have never had a movie show slide show or take much time to load. I see the dots and have watched several movies that have the insert recomending software upgrade, with no problems.
I will stick it back in and see what happens,

Hi ---
Same issue as above -- have used my samsung several times now with no issue. Now I received Behind Enemy Lines, put it in the player and it just gets stuck in "Slideshow" mode. I also have the colored dots on the screen per the above posting re: firmware updates. Any help greatly appreciated...

i know a firmware was just released. you can try updating and see what happens. i have no idea what the new firmware does though.

Slideshow eh? I thought they only titles that do that are porn titles, like The League of Ordinarily Gentile Women.

I got the block buster rental to finally load but then the screen is not complete. The blocks for play, scene select, ect are messed up (almost look like a scratch off). The screen flashes some weird pattern randomly. I sent that one back figuring it was a bad disk. I purchased a copy and it does the same thing.
I have viewed over 30 differant titles without any problems, (I have the lastest firmware).
Has anyone else had a problem with this movie?
