PS3 broken. Laser too hot? - Blu-ray Forum

Well, my PS3 kicked the bucket. Doing some research and from the looks of it, the laser overheated or something like that and now it doesn't recognize any disc I put in. Anyone else have this problem? I'm hoping I'm wrong and somebody has a solution before I send it in for repairs.

Also, how long is the turnaround for warranty repairs.

Very quick turnaround, week to two weeks.

What lights are blinking? Did you call sony?

Turn off the power and let it cool for 1 hour.

I had the same problem about 6 months ago on my 20gb. Wouldnt play any games/movies anymore. Luckily I had the EB warranty and swapped it for an 80gb.

Sorry, I was out in the field.

No blinking lights. Ok heres my problem, when I was playing a game the soundeffects went out so I thought I'd finish the chapter of where I was and reset but when I did finish the chapter it froze on the loading screen so I pressed the PS button and quit game, then it froze on a black screen for ages so I pressed eject on the PS3 and it reset but the disc didnt come out so I pressed it again and it came out but now I cant play discs anymore because when I put a disc in the loading indicator comes up in the right hand top corner but the play disc option doesnt and then it just loads and nothing happens. I've tried all my game discs so I know the problems with the PS3.

I put in a BD and its operation error or something like that.
