Default Blu-Ray selling at Best Buy

I bought my PS3 almost two weeks ago, and the Blu Ray movie section at the Best Buy in Bocca was full of movies. I went last night and it was 1/2 empty. I got the last copy of Stargate, and picked up The Great Raid, and there was only a few left.

I was also looking at prices, it seems that HD DVD shot themselves in the foot, the new Dual Releases were all $5.00 more then the BD disk of the same movie.

Same at my local BB. I went there yesterday and the large BD section was about 1/2 empty. Good news of course!

Targets around me have like 8 Blu Ray and 8 HD-DVD titles in stock, same think with Wal Mart.

It's the same at my local Target. I haven't found the HD-DVD section at my Circuit City. The Blu-ray section is near the front of the store. At Fry's Electronics, I'm starting to run into people buying Blu-ray titles while I'm buying titles now. I couldn't say that before. This is great news for HD-DVD!

Same at my Target, they have I think a 4 or 6 feet section that BD and HD DVD share. BD on one side HD-DVD on the other.

I had the same experience at BB this weekend; the Blu-ray section was ravaged and I couldn't even find Stargate (I ended up buying T2 instead). During checkout the girl ask me if I had a PS2, when I told her I had a stand alone player she said that she asked because there had been a lot of people buying movies for their PS2 lately.

Very nice!! The girl must be new cause PS3 plays blurays not PS2. My Best Buy is the same thing though, so many HD-DVD movies stock yet all the movies I look for on Blu-ray are sold out, something like this usually pisses me off but it's music to my ears

Yesterday my friend(manager at Best Buy) told me they have not sold a HD-DVD player in over 2 months. They are selling at least 2 or 3 Blu-ray players a week. The best part of our conversation was the fact that they already had a meeting about when they will be SENDING THE UNSOLD HD-DVD MOVIES BACK to the manufacture. I was so happy, I bought another Blu-ray movie.

My locale said they sold all 5 of the A2's that they got in.

That said they also stated that they had no plans to display an A2, even if Toshiba did send one to be displayed.

I just got finished doing some Christmas shopping at Best Buy. Let me just say, they are selling like crazy! There was absolutely NO traffic at the HD-DVD section. But when I wanted to look at the blu ray's, I had to wait until some people cleared out so I could take a look. And of course when I finally started looking through them, I saw many of the titles that were there before had sold out!

Hmmm. I think Sony's DADC in Terra Haute is gonna be working overtime in the next couple of months. And so far there are no plans from anybody else to add BD50 lines. There are other BD25 lines from other replicators.

So what does this means? If Sony PE and other studios going to be using more BD50s and we expect more PS3s and other BD players sold, then titles are going to run out fast. Not to create panic and all but that's my assesment so far.

This is encouraging when you consider that Bestbuys BD prices are insanely high (at least the last time I looked)/

It also looks like Best Buy as a company is slowing down on picking up EVERY HD/BD title because I noticed that certain titles the last few weeks didn't show up, and are not on order. Maybe they realize they are out of room in the 2 8ft sections and need to expand the area before they order more. OR maybe they aren't selling as well as anticipated and are slowing down on their investment until they get some return on what they've bought.

OR maybe the movie studio's just can't supply that many stores 800+ with enough titles...so they send nothing until they can send enough???

Who knows...

Fry's has had everything though week in and week out, so i've picked up the ones I couldn't get at BBY there.

Same at my local BB. Most new releases for 12/19 were a no show. 6 copies of Invincible did come in on the first day( I got one) and day 2 they were all sold. No other new releases for the 19th were in the store.
