Default Sony Bravia SXRD KDS-50A3000 or Samsung HLT5687SAX

New member here...

Ive done a lot of searching around the forums and have found people raving about the Sony, but I havent found too much feedback about the Samsung.

I can get what I think is a good deal on both. I do realize that the Sony is out of production, but is it really that much better compared to a Samsung?

I just purchased a standalone Blu-Ray player and am looking for 1080p with 120mhz (if you couldnt guess already).

Any feedback would be much appreciated. I'm glad I found this board.

Ive been looking for a 60" online for a while, and I have found a few places for about $2k. Im trying to decide if I want the 50" for $1,500 or would like to pay another $600 for 10 inches.

I original had the previous model sony reverse projection 50 inch and I upgraded to the 60 couldn't have been happier. I think you can find cheaper than 2k now.

And I know this sounds stupid, but I assume you have it set up well enought to look like the POTC displays at Best Buy, correct?

Not quite sure what you mean but yeah I have tweaked it over time and it looks amazing. I have seen them at best buy and they always looked bad to me like they just plugged it in and turned it on. Trust me you can get better results changing settings yourself!

I have the 55" version of the Sony and I agree with aqupunk--couldn't be happier. I got it after suffering some serious disappointment with a Mitsubishi television

I CANNOT vouch for the Samsung, but I'm more that impressed with the A3000 SXRD. I have the 55" version. The only "downside" you might want to be aware of is the silk screen effect and a horizontal 130 degree viewing angle and a vertical 60 degree viewing angle, both perpendicular to the screen. Other than that, it's awesome. Compare the specs between the two, and see which specs are most important to you.
