Default Wall Mounting Bookshelf Speakers

I've searched the forum a couple of times and can't find answer for my question, so here goes:

I have some JBL bookshelf speakers that I would like to mount via wall brackets to maximise their effect (currently they are straight shooting on quite high shelves). If I purchase a correct spec mount for them, can I just attach it by screwing it directly into the speaker box, or is that going to cause me issues?

TIA

QM

You can mount to the speaker box, use short screws not to go thru the wood
and large enough to support the weight, be CAREFULL with the pilot holes. Some manufacturers supply threaded inserts that are on "standard" patterns, or a single hole to accept a mount without modification

Assuming the cabinets are made from MDF, there should be no problem. Just use screws that don't extend beyond 3/4" into the cabinet.

WAIT WAIT WAIT WAIT!!!!!

Before you do it ( had a friend how attached wall mounts with screws to Cerwin Vega RE-16's) get a detailed spec sheet (dimensions etc) of the speakers..... my friend found it necessary to put the mount towards the top of his speakers and hang them upside down (which won't affect the sound, they were front ported I believe, so the tweeter is on the bottom instead of top, we're talking 5" of difference, not noticeable)

The reason I say find the dimension, is because you're gonna want to ensure that you screw into a part of the enclosure that is hollow (or has foam fill etc) and make sure you don't hit the speaker magnet or wires.......

But other than that, I agree with everyone else, you can screw right into the speaker box with little worry. I had another friend that couldn't mount speakers on the BACK wall, so he mounted them on the side walls of the room, and screwed the speaker brackets into the SIDE of the speakers...... very unconventional, and first I had seen it, but when angled towards the listening position, it actually looked pretty slick.
