Doesn't look at all like a wolf. It looks more like some kind of killer ape, but no wolf-like features whatsoever. Even the teeth are wrong.

It is half wolf half man. So I guess there is a lot of 'Sapien' in there

Oh, so then comparative morphology doesn't apply in this case and it needs to be examined on a genetic level. I see.

Personally, I really like Del Toro, but I just don't see this movie being any good.

It's not like the Wolf Man theme hasn't been played over and over or anything like that

I don't like it only because I don't see enough of the actor in it. hopefully this will change when I get to see it in action.

The way he looks seems more like a nod to the original Universal Studios wolf man than anything else. I kind of like the style.

Wow! Del Toro always looked kinda feral to me anyway, which makes a great casting. I hadn't heard anything about this movie. A good addition to the Werewolf genere. I hope it rocks!

Here's a description of the first trailer previewed at ComicCon:

The footage began with the Universal Logo. Cut to a guy walking through the woods. He comes across something, scared, he drops his lantern and runs away. Voice over states “25 years ago my father found him”.

“He was tore to pieces and half eaten. Whatever did it was big, had claws” Village people see something and run away. We see a bottom shot of the Wolfman transforming in the dark woods, just a little back light. People are chasing after him with guns. “and we couldn’t kill it.” Shots of someone casting silver bullets. “He only came out during a full moon from then on.”

Lawrence Talbot, played by Benicio Del Toro returns home to his father Sir John, played by Anthony Hopkins. “Hello father…” A lot of quick cuts. Title credits showing Anthony Hopkins, Emily Blunt and Hugo Weaving’s characters. Blunt runs away from a house on fire. Someone gets pulled into a pit by the wolf man and is torn apart, blood spraying everywhere. Del Toro finds himself in ripped and bloodied clothes. Hopkins says to him, “You’ve done terrible things… Be strong.” Another bunch of quick cuts, the Wolfman throws someone through a window. A bunch of footage of The Wolfman running around. “I am what they say I am, I’m a monster.” And the trailer ended with Weaving declaring “God Help Us!

I hope this isn't true, but it's being reported all over that Wolfman is getting moved from a Spring 2009 release to fall.

WOLFMAN to howl later?

Fango just heard through the grapevine that we may have to wait a little longer to see Benicio Del Toro get hairy. Word is that Universal is delaying THE WOLFMAN from its previously announced April 3 debut to sometime next fall.

Directed by Joe (JURASSIC PARK III) Johnston from a script by Andrew Kevin Walker and David Self, the remake of Universal’s 1941 classic THE WOLF MAN stars Del Toro (pictured) as Lawrence Talbot, who in this scenario is an actor who returns to his ancestral home and falls victim to the lycanthropic curse. Oscar-winning monster maker Rick Baker created Talbot’s beastly side and the carnage (which we’re told will be R-rated) he creates. We’ll try to sniff out specific new release-date news to bring to you
