Default Anime Guide

While searching the web to see if a certain anime only available on Bluray in Japan had English Subs, I found this web page Asianblurayguide. I noticed a couple of old threads and posts that were started also looking for this info. Not only does this page list subs but other specs available on Asian available Blurays. Enjoy.

Nice find there. I wish they had more on the region status, and more on Japanese releases of Western movies too.

Me too... just finished watching the first half of the series on Netflix on demand... I'd rather just buy the Blu-ray than Netflix the other half on DVD.

Anyone here have Patlabor WXIII?

I really want to find out if it is a 4x black bar'd title, or is full like the Patlabor 1&2 releases (and I can categorically confirm that Patlabor 1 and 2 are NOT black bared on all 4 sides). I want to get WXII, but after both Jin Roh and Honneamise I'm feeling kind of burnt. I'd really appreciate anyone with WXIII and a non-overscanning setup (eg, 1080p with 1:1 pixel mapping) letting me know.

Actually the site's only for worldwide Blu-ray releases of Asian films, not Asian releases of Western films.
As for the region code status, information about Japanese releases (esp. their region code) are pretty hard to find but I'll try my best to enhance the site.

Thanks,

Heck if you can, just put a list on her of releases. I'd love to see Spriggan, or Nausica on blu ray. Some anime like "Berserk" which one of my favorite anime series of all time, wont really benifit from viewing it in HD. But others like "Akira" will.

Thanks we appreciate your work.

I should just bite the bullet and get a region A player so I can quit worrying, and just buy and then post region info myself. I keep thinking I should buy a Japanese PS3 - so I can FINALLY play my copy of the Patlabor PS1 game...

Great Find dude. I am a major anime lover as as someone mentioned about Valley of the wind. No it is not going to be the best looking dics invented but will look pretty sweet. I am really hoping AKira and Ghost in the shell come out soon as well as Ninja Scroll. Id say those are my favorites as far as appearance and would love to see them on BR

Don't buy GITS Blu Ray. It is not a very good transfer and has black bars on all 4 sides.

I'd definitely recommend the Patlabor Blu Rays though. Very sweet.

I read that Innocence is not that much better on blu-ray (than SD) that's a shock since it contains so much CG. It seems that upconverters can make anime generally pretty great. The point is if one containing CG doesn't even look much better, than something like Spriggan wouldn't profit much from it either.
Has any one seen the Tekkonkinkreet blu-ray? I own the DVD, and I'm curious how much better it is in HD. It does seem a little soft in SD...

I dont own the SD Tekkon Kinkreet, so I really cant compare, but I thought the BD was gorgeous. Nice crisp lines. Cant say the colors popped a lot throughout, but mostly because its a very 'dark/pale' movie all around. Beginning scene was gorgeous though.
