Default Paradigm Speakers

As some of you know, i'm still in search for the best Speaker system upgrade available to me. I'm currently looking at Polk and Klipsche, but have heard great things about Paradigm. I did however, notice that they don't list prices or give you an option to buy at their website. Anybody know of an authorized online dealer so that I can get an idea of what I might spend on upgrading all 7 channels of my surround sound?

Paradigm, like many other top speaker manufacturers prohibits sales over the internet. Anyone selling Paradigm on the web is not an authorized dealer. Go to the Paradigm site, and type in your zipcode. The closest dealers in your location should come up.

Also, if you're looking for the "best" available to you, your listening habits (music/movies) and your sound preferences (soft domes, horns etc) play a major role. Either way, you want to listen to whatever it is before you buy it.... and listen to it IN YOUR HOME..... if a local shop won't give you an in-home demo (may have to put down some plastic for their security) don't even bother dealing with them..... I've been drooling over a new Rotel Pre-Amp/Amp combo they have at my local shop, and I went in there to get new tweeters they had for me (long story, whole other thread) and the guy actually said "we got new ones in, do you want to take them home with you and bring them back when your other tweeter comes in" (which could be three weeks or so) The guy basically said "here, take $5,000 worth of stuff, but please bring it back" I'm sure he has my info from previous sales etc..... but I didn't even ask for a home demo, and he offered...... THAT is a good store owner there.

I didn't take them home with me, because I can't afford it...... The audio store is sometimes like a strip club..... you can go and look, but you better not come home with any of the merchandise!!!!!!

Beta, what was the Rotel Pre-Amp? The RSP-1069? I had it for a while, but I sold it. Depending on the native resolution of your tv, you might have some issues with the internal scaler and crushing blacks. Rotel has acknowledged and addressed this though and there is a fix.

These are kinda old but you'll get some idea on the list prices of Paradigm and a few others. Anyways, I agree with Beta Man that you better audition speakers like these before buying them.

No problem. Speaker shopping is fun until you hand over your credit card.

My entire 5.1 system is Paradigm....I love it to pieces.

Fronts - Monitor 11v5
Center - Monitor CC370v4
Rears - Monitor 11v4
SUB - Reference Servo 15v2

Any good Paradigm dealer should be happy to hook you up with a space in which to spend an hour or so listening to your test CD's with the few speakers you're thinking of.

When I picked out the Monitor 11v4's, I was listening to few different types of music.
Dave Matthews - Some Devil
Nine Inch Nails - The Downward Spiral
The Crystal Method - Vegas

I auditioned the 11's, 9's and 7's, all in the version 4 line-up. I knew I didn't have the cash to move up to the studio line, I only wanted to spend $800, which was the price of the 7's. Once I spent some time going between the 7's, 9's and 11's, I felt the 11's were the most musical and had better overall tone, especially in the low end, despite Paradigm's stated frequency responses being identical. I knew I had to pony up an extra $400.

I'm looking forward to replacing my center with a Studio CC590 though. The CC370 is only +/- 2dB to 100Hz.

Here's a price list.

http://www.audioemporium.com/

Call around for the best deal. I actually got my set out in CA since the dealers out here in AZ (only one locally) didn't budge on price. The Paradigm website has a dealer search.

I know what you mean...I love my setup so much...they sound great and I didn't think the price was bad at all!!! They are great for both music and movies!!! I really do love them and I will always stick with them when I upgrade!!!

I've been reading some really great reviews of the BIC Acoustech speakers. Price is fantastic as well.

Here's a review with pics, I'm seriously thinking of ordering some. For $1200 shipped for a 5.1 system.....

Not sure of model number....... Television isn't an issue.... I'd spend $5,000 on a new mono-block amp before I'd pay a dime to upgrade my 37" 720p Aquos..... Video isn't that important to me (it's important enough to get Blu-Ray, but everytime I get the idea of upgrading the television, I think of the new turntable I want, or remote, etc.... all more important than the T.V. in my opinion..... but to each their own....)

I've been following that thread religiously and am seriously convinced they're the best sounding speakers in its price range. For $1200 for a complete 5.1 system you really can't go wrong. And I've been researching them all over and haven't seen ANY negative reviews of those speakers.

I'll preface by saying I haven't auditioned them, but I gotta ask you....

Have you????

If you have, the second part of your statement, regarding all of the reviews you've been digging up on them really shouldn't matter to you..... if you haven't..... then the second part of your statement regarding all of the reviews you've been digging up on them really shouldn't matter to you.....

Default Studio Reference 20 v4

Got a great deal on the v4 20's and still breaking them in. Sound is very laid back and either I'm too used to forward sounding speakers or break in is taking longer than expected. Any v4 20's owners out there using them for stereo music pair and can comment? I'm running a Rotel RSX-1067 that outputs an honest 100w/channel all channels driven (7) and I think 127w/channel for just 2 channels.

I also tried passive bi-amping but realized it was a waste of time since the 4 amps are all sipping from the same pool (torroidal transformer in the AVR).
