I'd say it's worth the 8 bucks. I bought it, it's a decent improvement over the DVD, but it's nothing spectacular. It was made on the cheap, so the Blu-ray may, unfortunately, be as good as it gets.

The PQ is as bad as it gets for a BD. There's lots of grain (Not intentional) in the transfer. Not bad for 7.99.

The movie itself wasn't all that good but IMO the pq and aq were good.

This is not the extended cut on BD is it ?
I like that one a lot better than the theatrical version...

I thought it looked slightly better than average. The discrepancy in the PQ ratings are probably because of when they were reviewed. HDD reviewed it in 2006 and at the time, maybe it was one of the better ones he had seen. Here it was reviewed in 2008 and there are lots of reference quality titles to compare it to probably making the Punisher not look as good in comparison.

Anyway, it's hard to go wrong with it only costing $8.

I'm going to wait and see if they release a new BD to tie-in with Punisher 2, which I believe comes out this Fall. Too bad Thomas Jane isn't playing the title character this time. I actually liked the first one. It followed the graphic novel "Welcome Back, Frank" very closely. That's a good read.

It was at J&R but if you checked hot deals area you mght find it again..... The deal is over at J&R too....

I wanted the Punisher until I saw in the review that it has no extras at all. A Knight's Tale was the same way. I felt ripped-off.

I have it but don't see all the grain that people talk about. I do use ALL the Sony XBR settings for grain, motion and pic enhancement. That might have something to do w/it. The disc is just on the soft side, but still a lot better than upconverted dvd. I'm happy with it. Its just if you compare it to POTC or Tears of the Sun then you might feel its bad. Good movie, enjoy

lol but 7.99(not anymore) I dont think the dvd is that cheap

Its not bad for $8, if you havent seen the movie, or are a fan of it. Im holding off and waiting for the extended whatever edition that you know will be released eventually, since its on dvd.

Heh . . . check out the scene on the beach where Frank and his family are walking, and they're talking about his son's swimming. Look at the sky

A lot of this issues though, again, probably stem from the master . . . low budget film and yada yada.

I paid alot more than $8. for it when it first came out. It may not be a super transfer but it is entertaining. If you can get for $8. then why are you asking if its worth it, just get it.

everyone keeps saying it's worth $8... but unless I'm missing something, you can NOT get it for that price anymore...

It is a Lions gate film. I love Lions Gate just because of the LG title card with the gears. I am always wowed by that.
