Default Heavenly Sword on 40GB wont work?!

My coworker is having trouble getting Heavenly Sword to play on a 40GB PS3.
When she puts the game in it acts like it is trying to install something, but nothing ever happens. She let it run over night and still the same screen in the morning. All other games and movies work, this is the only one giving trouble. She had a 80GB before and the drive broke down after 2 months, so the store exchanged it and gave her a 40GB and extra credit, because there are no more 80s... The game worked on her 80GB and I also tried it on my 20GB and it runs fine...
She has latest 2.17 firmware and also tried disabling the internet, same results.

Anyone else experiencing the same problem or know why this might happen???

Has the games patch (for rumble support) been downloaded successfully or at all?

If there's anything for Heavenly Sword under

Game > Game Data Utility

try deleting it and starting the game up again.

Hi,

Thanks for the fast answer. I'll have her delete the game data.
She's not sure about the rumble patch... is this necessary?

Yes the patch is required in order to play. Unless of course she doesn't have the PS3 hooked up to the internet.

The patch is not required to play HS

I downloaded a game save from an 80 gb PS3 from gamefaq and played it fine on 40gb PS3

here's the link to game saves
http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/ps3/save/928391.html

1. Create your own save file
2. upload it into a usb drive
3. download the game saves from gamefaq (make sure you download a save from the same region as yours)
4. copy and paste the file onto the directory created by your own game save
5. copy the directory with the new game save to your PS3
6. voila you got a completed HS game save totally playable on your 40gb PS3. Yes I've done this.

I have had this happen with a couple games in the past. It's either the data is corrupt, or the disc is bad. More likely the latter.

It's not necessary unless she's got a Dual Shock 3 controller from Japan. I don't think those are available anywhere else yet.

They are not trying to play someone else's save. You need to download the patch since it has been released. Patch information is saved under Game Data Utility......not with saves.

Korea has DS 3 controllers.

They're $45.

Aren't they available in the USA yet?
