Hey guys, I have a question. I bought this HDTV - http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Eleme...oductDetail.do
It's a 26" 720p HDTV. I'm wondering. Could somone tell me how clear (crisp/crystal clear) a blue ray disc would be on it? I'm thinking about getting a PlayStation 3. I'm wondering could somone maybe show a picture of how clear a blue ray DVD on a 26" 720p HDTV would be? Like would it be clearer then iO TV's HD Channels/Commercials? WOuld anyone be able to tell me how clear a blue ray dvd would be on my TV? Anyone have a picture or somthing, or could tell me? thanks |

It depends on which Blu Ray movie you are watching. Some movies such as Gridiron Gang are grainy. If you want superb quality put in a movie featured in the Movies > Top Rated section like Casino Royale or Cars. Chances are the BR will look the same if not better than HD programming b/c even though you have HD channels not every program is shot in high def. The larger your HD TV is the more you will notice how good BR looks. I have a 42" plasma but, many will tell you that you will really see the difference in screens 50" and above. Hope this helps you out.

I don't know how much better its going to look on your particular tv. It will come down to several factors including the PQ of your TV, the movie you are watching, and your personal preferences. Some people are very picky about details. I can tell you that I've been very happy w/ BR since I picked up my PS3. There is a noticeable difference between DVD and BR on my TV even with upconvertion.

I think you need to look at it this way. Your TV can do better than DVD Quality and upconversion is good with a PS-3. Blu-ray is definitely sharper than DVD and the rest comes down to taste. With the screen size you have you may not see all the difference because the larger the picture the more likely you are to notice poor quality. That said with the PS-3 you can play your existing DVD's upscaled to the capacity of your TV, watch Blu-ray, which you can't do right now and finally, if you ever get the desire, play games on the thing too. I love the quality of Blu-ray, settings on your equipment will dictate what you see...
