Thumbs down Why was the half.com coupon thread deleted, mods plz?

What is going on with this forum, mods?
As you know I set up a thread to help people get half.com coupons (which has been around for a long time), and now its suddenly gone without notice or a reason.

The thread did not seem to violate forum policy (which I checked out before posting it), and everybody seemed to like it since it was helping people; I see Amazon shared prime requests everywhere (which is not allowed in the forums and violates Amazon policy and could cause peoples accounts to be closed), which is way worse that sharing legitimate codes; something is very wrong here.

I am having a real hard time understanding why you would delete that post; I put some of my valuable time into helping people get these codes (changing to PM's to make it fair took more of my time), and a lot of forum members participated, along with getting a good google ranking attracting people to the blu-ray.com boards.

I really like this community (I send a lot of people here) and have been a huge blu-ray supporter for a very long time, so this is like a slap in the face.

Would the mod who deleted the post please explain why?

BTW I have been visiting this forum for a very long time (way before I signed up), never really a problem, and now 2 posts in 2 days are deleted out of the blue?
I understand the April fools threads from everybody getting deleted, and I could care less about that, but the timing is suspicious, if that was all it takes to get a mod on your bad side, you mods are not doing a very good job and acting childish; I hope this is not the case and just coincidental.

Yeah I don't get why they do that either. It's not like we're making copies of the coupons and posting. This is something that one person shares with a group passing around information on sales. What's the difference between that and allowing links for sales on amazon?

You have done nothing wrong imho. They are codes that half.com is giving out to get people to shop at their site. I thought the no posting coupons was for things that are not meant to be reproduced (ie the scans of $10 coupons). It's a shame that the thread was taken down, because it was helping a lot of people out.

It's a real bummer that they removed you're thread. It was helpful to a lot of people!

Maybe they felt it would kill Nielsen numbers?

Who knows for sure.. All I know is, I made a silly joke and shorty after the thread was removed (not because of me mindya)

Humm.. I guess this means no codes for me nor anyone else?

Please say it isn't so....

Posting general coupons for Half.com is fine (the $5 coupon and so forth)

The actual content/prices on half.com fall under the ebay/Blu-ray boxsets rules. Please see this thread

That is an excuse after the fact; a very bad one.

It explains why 1 post (the 2nd post with the link to half.com) would have been deleted (only), but not why the original coupon post and every other post (which did not contain pricing), and whole thread was removed.
A lot of people were participating in the thread, and it was ranked high on Google bringing new people to the forum, and you deleted the thread for no reason, besides the fact that you could.

It would have taken the same amount of time to delete that single post, or PM me and request the pricing from that single post be removed; it was a very minor part of the thread.

Enjoy your forums WickyWoo.

Do you think insulting the moderators will get you anywhere?

You have your reason. Create a new thread that follows the rules. Is there a problem with this?

Just wanted to say I appreciated the time and effort put into your thread that got deleted. I know you weren't getting anything out of it but you still took the time to set up a systematic way so that eventually everyone would get a coupon. I don't see why the violation was crucial enough for an entire thread (especially one so active) to be deleted without notice. Anyway, hope jaysdomain sticks around after this, we need more members lending hand around here.

I can’t help it if the truth sounds insulting; and yes, of course forcing people to answer for their actions helps; why do you think you still have freedom of anything?

You’re missing the point anyway; the thread followed the rules, but there was a single post which was borderline rule-breaking, and the excuse by the moderator does not make sense for the whole thread (over 100 members posts all following the rules) to be deleted.
To believe the moderators excuse, you have the believe today was the first time the moderator read the post, yet the thread was at the top of the forum for over a week, with several thousand page views.
If anything, he should have made it a sticky.

I'm not going to argue the point anymore; I made my point, and it’s obvious the majority agrees.
I will post all of the codes I have left soon (first come first serve) and then be done with it, somebody else can waste their time trying to do a good thing here.

I am curious, when you give out this coupon code for Half.com do you get something in return if its used? I am not understanding the hype. I unfortunately couldnt use them as I am already a half customer. I will look on their site for an answer

You know, I was having a bit of sympathy there, until a little bird alerted me to this

http://cart.half.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?TakeFive
http://pages.half.ebay.com/help/ptb.html

In other words, he's getting paid for the coupons out of the kindness of his heart "just to help people out". No wonder he was so upset at me derailing the money train

But you dont know for sure if he was doing that or not..

If he was, then shame on him.

If he was actually helping people to be nice, then a thread was deleted wrongly..

How else would he be getting so many codes? Why else would he be so mad? Why else would he be "supplying a code via email for a joke"? (aka plugging their name into his take5 box)

There's people in here 5 times a week trying to plant their referral links, spam us, advertise their site, you name it.
